What can a soccer ball teach us?

This weekend at the Latino Arts Festival, we invite you to help transform four giant cardboard soccer balls into collaborative works of art. Together, we will paint, draw, and share stories inspired by the game we love.

Fútbol is more than a sport. It carries memories of our families, street scrimmages with our neighbors, and connects us to our cultures.
Through this project, we are partnering with artist Clara Amezcua , whose creative practice guides this community artwork, to explore how the beautiful game can become a canvas for our youth and communities.

Join us June 12–14 at the Latino Arts Festival in Park City @ Canyons Village and help artist Clara Amezcua bring these collaborative artworks to life. A special thank you to for supporting this project and helping create space for community creativity.
Come contribute your ideas to help Clara finish these collective works of art and leave your mark on a public artwork that celebrates the power of an object(soccer ball) that connects us.

🌽🌱🫘🫛🧅🫜HOY!

🌽🌱🫘🫛🧅🫜 TODAY! La Milpa: Offering a Healing
Space in Challenging Times
Join us on June 8 at Summit Community Gardens for La Milpa: Planting Seeds and Starts.

Together, we will gather as a community for La Milpa: Planting the Seeds and Starts in the Community Garden. Some delicate young plants, or “starts,” must be planted later in the season.
As we plant seeds for the La Milpa (corn, beans, and squash) alongside culturally relevant companion crops, we honor ancestral and living Indigenous practices from Mesoamerica and express gratitude to the land. This bilingual gathering will offer delicious traditional food.

Come plant, learn, and grow with us.

🎨 Art mentorship in action! Through our Arts Education program, we teamed up with Granite School District to create a unique collaborative project.

From conception to the final brushstroke, this community mural project was approximately six months in the making! Professional muralist, teaching artist, and Executive Director of Artes de México en Utah, Luis Novoa, took inspiration from over 500 student drawings and ideas to design this vibrant mural for Dosmundosacademy. High school art students helped paint this large-scale work under Luis' guidance, gaining hands-on experience in public art production. 🖌️✨

Last week, hundreds of community members gathered to celebrate the mural. Younger students even stopped by to add their own finishing touches by leaving a colorful handprint on the secondary mural wall. ✋❤️ The full project was completed shortly thereafter.

Thank you to the educators, artists, students, and community members who made this project such a success. This is what Arts Education is all about: bridging the gap between classroom learning and creative career paths.
