Each Raíces | Roots muralist invited a fellow artist to join them, creating a bigger, more connected creative network.

The exhibition is still up! 👀

Join us tomorrow evening for a group show that grew out of the Raíces | Roots murals on the Local Artist Wall.

Each artist invited one artist from their community to draw in a broader gathering of people in their creative network.

Light snacks from Ba Banh Mi and desserts by Merce will be hand.

Plus lots of seltzer, ice and limes to make your own Suero to stay cool & hydrated.

~~~
Los invitamos a acompañarnos mañana por la noche a una exposición colectiva que tiene su origen en los murales de Raíces | Roots en el Local Artist Wall.
Cada artista invitó a un artista de su comunidad para ampliar el círculo de personas de su red creativa.
Se ofrecerán botanas de Ba Banh Mi y postres de Merce.
Además, tendremos mucho agua mineral, hielo y limón para que preparen su propio Suero y se mantengan frescos e hidratados.
Yixuan Zeng (camera shy ☺️)
Amongst the Raíces | Roots murals on PUAM’s Local Artist Wall, came forth notions of how they create belonging without othering, how historical places shapes future cultural narratives and how personal identities are formed. This lead PUAM to add in the sub-title to the theme, Soy de aquí | I’m from here. As conversations with the artists continued since install, we discussed how sometimes the mural's they create in public space, are not reflective of what they are creating in their studio (be that the kitchen, bedroom or garage).
This exhibition seeks to bring forth their artistic practice and their community connections via a new to PUAM component…Plus one | Más uno to create space for each Raíces | Roots muralist to invite an fellow artist to join them in this popup exhibition to allow for broader dialogue and a collaborative participation process.
More info soon...
Entre los murales de Raíces | Roots en PUAM’s Local Artist Wall, surgieron ideas acerca de las formas en cómo se crea un sentido de pertenencia sin marginar a nadie, cómo los lugares históricos dan forma a las narrativas culturales futuras y cómo se forjan las identidades personales. Esto llevó a PUAM a agregar el subtítulo Soy de aquí | I’m from here al tema del proyecto. A través de las conversaciones con los artistas desde la instalación, discutimos cómo, a veces, los murales que crean en el espacio público no reflejan lo que están creando en su estudio (ya sea la cocina, la recámara o el garaje).
Esta exposición intenta presentar su práctica artística y sus vínculos con sus comunidades a través de un componente nuevo para PUAM…Plus one | Más uno, con la intención de crear un espacio para cada muralista de Raíces | Roots para invitar a un colega artista a unirse a esta exposición pop-up y así permitir un diálogo más amplio y un proceso de participación colaborativo.
