The Richmond Art Museum's biennial Art on the Green event is October 22nd from 5:30-7:30.

Art on the Green is your chance to buy artwork that was donated to RAM from people in the community who no longer have a place for it in their collection! Featuring both originals and prints, this is a great opportunity to shop for some affordable artwork. The best part? All purchases from this event benefit the Richmond Art Museum!

This year, we will be hosting the ticketed event at RAM. You will get a glass of w**e and hors d’oeuvres at the event for your $20 ticket purchase. We appreciate all the ways our community supports the museum, and can't wait to see you here on October 22nd!

In Your Own Words: Art, Ideas, and Visual Literacy

In Your Own Words has a simple goal in mind; students can learn and remember that they have a voice of their own and can use it by engaging in a VTS facilitated discussion. The program makes direct connections to existing Wit & Wisdom curriculum in the schools, and reinforces Socratic Seminar efforts. The field trip engages 5th - 8th grade students during a one hour museum field trip where they view artwork on display, are asked to pay special attention to the museum labels, and then have an extended discussion about a selected artwork.

As a follow-up extension of the field trip, students have been asked to help RAM by creating student perspective labels for artwork in the RAM Permanent Collection, some of which will be selected for installation alongside our museum labels!

Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) uses a mode of learner-centric discussion that meets groups where they are in their aesthetic development, and opens dialogue stemming from focused observation and emphasizes the value of each voice in the group.

Special thanks to Hibberd who sent 7th and 8th graders and Dennis who sent 7th graders to participate in some of the first sessions of this new program yesterday.

Our gratitude to the Ronald L. McDaniel Foundation for providing funding for this new effort, which completes a continuum of museum educational programming at RAM for K - 12th grades.

This is the last week to check out our two exhibits that are currently up at RAM. Iron Aura | Aaron Leif Nicholson & Joe Thompson and Steve Koger: Just Black and White will be coming down after Saturday.

These two shows bring an incredible contrast to the museum where we find one gallery with black and white photographs from life in Wayne County decades ago. The next gallery over houses cast iron sculpture and vibrant abstract aura paintings.

These are two incredible shows from local artists that you do not want to miss if you haven't had the chance to see them yet!

Potterypalooza 2026 was a hit!

While we had some rain early in the morning, we luckily spent the day with only the occasional sprinkle. Even with a few cancelations due to weather, it was our largest year ever! We hope you all enjoyed yourselves.

We can't thank everyone enough who was a part of the day. Thank you to the artists for sharing your creativity and passion. Thank you staff and volunteers for all the behind the scenes work. Thank you patrons for continuing to show your love for this event year after year.

We believe Potterypalooza is only continuing to grow, and we are so happy to be able to see this event come to life each year. Thank you for choosing to support art.

Potterypalooza starts at 10!

Potterypalooza 2026 is today! Get to the Richmond Art Museum at 350 Hub Etchison Parkway in Richmond, Indiana between 10am and 4pm.

Enjoy a community favorite that draws 1,000 people to the area to shop for regional handmade ceramics. Everything from functional ceramics like mugs and bowls, to sculptures and décor will be for sale. This event is free to attend and fun for the whole family! We also have live pottery wheel demonstrations and a kids clay zone for fun interactive pieces.

Don't forget to swing into the museum to explore our galleries and see the current exhibits on display (we are admission free always). This year we also have a special private exhibit of Overbeck Sister pottery on display.

Come see what all the excitement is about and support local artists as you shop for friends, family, and yourself at the Richmond Art Museum!
