Well, I did it. I was up early and made it to Dawnbreakers Kiwanis to speak about a gangster murder in Wacouta. I tied it into the Red Wing Saloon exhibit and invited them to visit us. Sorry, no one was taking photos today, but, since Al Capone was part of the story, here he is.

It has been a busy day - I started the morning by speaking about the Wacouta gangster murder to Golden K Kiwanis (and got an invitation to present next week to Dawnbreakers Kiwanis) and then I spoke about Prohibition at Red Wing Noontime Kiwanis. Of course, I invited both groups to visit the Pottery Museum of Red Wing to see the Red Wing Saloon exhibit!

What a nice evening at Business After Hours last night!

Diane, Larry, Char, and Nancy from The Pottery Museum of Red Wing were on hand to give tours today, as they explained the history of Red Wing Pottery during Business After Hours.

As always, there was delicious food, amazing door prizes, and fabulous networking while
Stacy from the Red Wing Collectors Society, Inc. talked about the thousands of members from across the nation that come to Red Wing for the week long Pottery Convention every July.

Don't forget about Richard Spiller's coil building ceramics class is next week. Coil building is an age-old technique for making a myriad of different pieces of pottery and clay-based artwork. Through this process, you'll learn the techniques for making pottery pieces out of long ropes of clay. You'll make two pieces approximately 12" to 18" each. After class, your pieces will be glazed and fired and ready for pick up at the museum. All levels of ability are welcome, including beginners. RICHARD SPILLER is currently the resident potter at the Pottery Museum of Red Wing. Class will be held at the Pottery Museum of RW, 240 Harrison St., Red Wing. Cost is $39. Please register for this class at https://redwing.cr3.rschooltoday.com/public/home/

Our thanks to Mark Dankers, who drove down from the Cities to do more snow removal once he heard that a window was starting to bow from the weight of the snow against it. This snow had been blown against the building after the many February snowfalls we have had. This snowbank is not even the biggest one around. Thank you, Mark!

It's a snowy day for Goodhue County Historical Society's Bling & Chocolate, but Red Wing Pottery is represented. Pottery Museum of Red Wing's own Nancy Featherstone used Random Harvest as the base for her table, stunningly decorated by Bonnie Hutchson of Hallstrom's Florist & Greenhouses. Stacy Wegner of Red Wing Collectors Society, Inc. chose Smart Set for her table. Beautiful!
