Red Springs Artspace presents the September show in the “Expanding into the World” Series.
“Expanding into the World” is an online showcase that features on Artsy a new artist each month. U.S.-based creators are invited to participate through a year-long open call for submissions. Over the course of the year, twelve artists will present their work to a global audience, each for one month.
This month’s featured artist is Monte Gifford (Colorado).

A longtime illustrator and designer of nearly 500 wine labels (featured in The Art and Design of Contemporary Wine Labels), Gifford’s work has appeared on TV, in film, and recently at the Nagasaki Museum of Art.
His school reports always noted “Does not color in the lines.” He took it as a compliment—and the start of his style.
His “Weightless” series celebrates those who don’t quite fit the canvas of life. Vibrant, textured paintings that invite us to defy gravity, live larger, and embrace joy.
