Hours of Operation: Monday thru Friday 9:00 to 4:00 The Petty Museum is finally back home. Many changes have taken place and lots to see. We are back at the original Petty site where the first family of racing began. When mailing anything to this address, please use the Randleman, NC 27317 address. Even though we are at Level Cross the mailing address is Randleman. Level Cross is a community of Randleman not a township.

Ona Speedway was proud to present Richard Petty with a $1,700 check to Victory Junction during the ceremony today.

The $1,700 amount carries a special meaning as Mr. Petty earned $1,700 for his 1970 West Virginia 300 victory.

Victory Junction, located in Randleman, NC, is a year round camp that provides cost-free, medically safe experiences for children with complex medical and physical needs. The camp was built in honor of Richard Petty’s grandson Adam Petty.

We had a very special day at the Petty Museum! You’ve heard the story about the night all the lights went out during a race at Ona Speedway in 1970, but did you know Richard Petty actually WON that race?! Also, did you know that the original trophy didn’t have a plaque signifying which race it was from?

Today, the wonderful people that currently operate Ona Speedway stopped by to change that! From now on, when you visit the Petty Museum, the trophy from, “The Night the Lights Went Out,” will be easily identifiable.

Thank you to the entire Ona Speedway crew for making the trip from West Virginia to Level Cross, NC and for donating to Victory Junction. Also, thank you to Chris Weaver and FOX8 WGHP for stopping by and covering the ceremony.

(The plaque was straightened up before it was put back in the case)
