Meet Tara Thacker, whose ceramic work explores materiality, transformation, and the connection between observation and memory. Working primarily with clay, Tara creates intricate, tactile forms that challenge traditional perceptions of ceramics. Her works often appear soft and seemingly like textiles, despite their fired surfaces. Her current work draws inspiration from the avian world, using repetition, layered forms, and material transformation to evoke nocturnal landscapes and the delicate structures of birds’ wings. Through an intensive process of hand-built abstraction, Tara transforms individual ceramic elements into unexpected surfaces and sculptural landscapes.
