Quilcene was home to a thriving timber industry that originated during the 1860’s when loggers from Maine and several other families settled in the area. In the early 1970’s wandering hippies gravitated to the area bringing their arts and crafts with them. Discord ensued between the loggers and the hippies until love prevailed and they began to intermarry. Thus the Arts community was born and continues to thrive today.

Cabinet – Mahogany Study

A study in variation and detail, this cabinet is crafted from five distinct types of mahogany, composed of many small, carefully inlaid pieces that create subtle pattern and visual depth.

Measuring 19” W × 16” D × 34” H (36” to the top of the legs)

The piece is elevated on slender supports, giving it a light, balanced presence.
Glass-paneled doors feature softly wavy glass, reminiscent of early medical and apothecary cabinets, gently obscuring and revealing the contents within. Repurposed bronze sailboat cleats serve as handles, introducing both history and character.

Created as a sample for custom orders, this cabinet reflects a range of material possibilities and fine detailing.
