The William-Scott Gallery represents a diverse group of emerging and established contemporary artists from Provincetown and beyond, working in a variety of media and subject matter. Featuring painting, photography, sculpture and works on paper, the William-Scott Gallery strives to exhibit work that displays expertise, sensitivity, and imagination, as it embraces aesthetic beauty, artistic integrit

y, and themes relevant to our lives. Our Provincetown location opened in 1995, and continues to be an anchor of the East End Gallery District.

Join us for an opening reception Friday August 14, 7-9pm

Glenn Diadone presents a new series of constructed photographic works that draw on the visual language of mid-century modern design and 1960s Americana. Departing from the artist’s earlier focus on landscape photography, these layered compositions explore broader cultural themes through imagery that is at once familiar, surreal, and unsettling.

Paul Wirhun - Water, Water Everywhere August 7 - 19, 2026. Join us for an Opening Reception tonight, Friday August 7, 7-9pm.

Since childhood, Wirhun has practiced pysanky, the traditional Ukrainian art of eggshell writing, learned from his mother — a lifelong foundation that continues to shape his work today. Building on this heritage, he has expanded the ancient craft through innovative dyeing, brushwork, and etching techniques, developing a visual language uniquely his own on the eggshell’s organic form. His process also draws on the studio practice of reconstructing broken eggshell fragments into new compositions, transforming discarded material into new imagery and worldviews.

Frederick Brosen - New Watercolors August 7 - 19, 2026. Join us for an Opening Reception Friday, August 7, 7-9pm.

For this exhibition, Brosen turns his eye to Provincetown and the outer Cape, rendering the town’s harbor, dunes, and weathered streets with the same architectural precision and quiet, luminous light that define his celebrated New York cityscapes. Featured works include Dyer Street, Provincetown, The Flats, P’town, East End Cottage/Snail Road, and East End Dusk, among others.

A native New Yorker, Frederick Brosen began his studies at City College of New York, graduating in 1976. He studied art at the Art Students League and at Pratt Institute, receiving his MFA from Pratt in 1979.

Brosen has been recognized with a Silver Medal of Honor by the Royal Society of Arts & Letters in London and a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant. Watercolors by Frederick Brosen have been acquired by the New York Historical Society, the Knoxville Museum of Art, The Museum of the City of New York, Frye Art Museum, Seattle and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

“Born of despair and bewilderment over current events, this work is the result of my choice to embrace the absurd and to focus on things that are either delightfully frivolous, or eternal and utterly indifferent to human affairs.

Small, oil on canvas paintings of soft serve ice cream and cupcakes* floating in space, hovering over Provincetown Harbor or inserted into settings that pay homage to favorite artists, combine with painterly renderings of alternately placid or roiling seas to juxtapose the power and beauty of the geophysical world with some of the more ephemeral pleasures of life on earth.

As the work has progressed, a common visual language has emerged as structural similarities between these polar opposites on the emotional/gravitational spectrum have come to light. Piled up frosting echos swirls of ocean spray, cupcakes turn comically geological evoking a stylized mountain top in one piece, a messy space rock in another. And so it goes…”

New work available by Sandra Jones Campbell.

Sandra Jones Campbell’s depiction of social and political scenes reflect both her professional respect for the 30’s style German Expressionists Max Beckman, George Grosz and Otto Dix, and her uniquely gentle wit. Multiple figures populate lively acrylics on paper or canvas images that blend Sandra’s optimism and candor, along with the artist’s keen visual skill: balancing color, form composition, humor and subject matter.  
Sandra describes her paintings as composites of social sightings portraying evocative associations from a voyeuristic perspective, often at moments of personal social apprehensions or sociological attitudes. Her visual narratives achieve effects that are simultaneously playful and sophisticated.

Kris Haas – The Breath of Memory Opens Friday, July 31, 2026. Join us for an opening Reception 7-9pm. On view through August 12th.

In The Breath of Memory, Kris Haas explores abstraction through restraint, atmosphere, and the accumulation of layered surfaces. Built through an intuitive yet controlled process, the paintings rely on subtle tonal shifts, veiled forms, and gestural markings that emerge slowly through sustained looking.

Rather than functioning as fixed images or narratives, the works operate through suggestion and sensation, allowing memory to remain fragmented, atmospheric, and unresolved. Scraped lines, dripped passages, and muted fields of color create surfaces that feel both constructed and eroded, balancing immediacy with quiet deliberation.

Though minimal in palette and composition, the paintings maintain a strong physical presence, where texture, transparency, and scale become central to the viewing experience.

Armando Pedroso — Beyond the Door Opens Tonight, Friday, July 24, 2026. Join us for an Opening Reception on Friday, July 24, 7-9pm.

On view through August 5, 2026

Beyond The Door centers on Pedroso’s paintings of solitary barns and farm structures set against wide, open skies. Rendered in acrylic with his signature palette of weathered reds, rusts, and unexpected color, the barns recur across the body of work like familiar characters, often accompanied by a lone animal figure in the grass and a fence line receding toward the horizon. The recurring red barn and its doorway, at the heart of the exhibition’s title, become a quiet stand-in for solitude and comfort — Pedroso’s continuing interest in what lies beyond the noise of daily life.
