Journeys in Spirit Artist Bio!!

Elbert Dayzie

I am Elbert Dayzie, a Bit’ahnii born for To Dichii’nii clans of the Navajo people. The place I’m from is called Desert Spring, not listed, but within the Rock Point Chapter. I draw my inspiration from the area’s landscape and stories; I include a couple of schools: Idyllwild School of Music and the Arts, which I attended a couple of years ago, and Northern Arizona University, where I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2002. I dedicate all my time to making art for progress, practice, and improvement.
Western society has been practicing what I claim to be, a painter, for hundreds of years. As a Navajo artist, I find this overwhelming, yet I try to inject myself into this discipline. The intonations of my culture in my images are subtle in most cases. Some influential “isms” that appear in my paintings include surrealism, impressionism, symbolism, and abstract expressionism.

Journeys in Spirit Artist Bio!!

Stephanie Dann

The story of Stephanie Dann Photography began when I was young. I began photographing our family trips and everyday life. Since moving to Arizona in 1993, I have fallen in love with the scenery. I love the sunsets, the mountains, the red rocks, and of course the night sky. Currently living in Flagstaff, Arizona, the very first Dark Sky City, I have the opportunity to capture the Milky Way, stars, and comets. I love to photograph landscapes, skyscapes, wildlife, plant life, architecture, seascapes, and portraiture.

Journeys in Spirit Artist Bio!!

Anthony Puhuyesva

Anthony Puhuyesva is a Hopi Military Veteran Artist from the Village of Kykotsmovi on the Hopi Reservation in Northeastern Arizona. Anthony always had a love for art. Much of his art is inspired by his love for his culture and his family. Anthony joined the military right after high school and did two tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon being honorably discharged from the US Army, Anthony got back into art to help with transitioning back into civilian life. He later went to school for graphic design and now primarily does this type of graphic design, but still works in other mediums as well. Not only does art still help him with trauma from war, but Anthony continues to do his art in hopes of bringing happiness and even just a smile to others when days seem hard.
