Great News | Our professional development program is expanding statewide! 🎉

Thanks to a $10,000 grant from the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, NHAA's Professional Development programming is expanding statewide. Compared to neighboring states, NH has no institutions offering graduate-level studio art education or professional development training for working artists.

We're changing that.

The program will offer free and low-cost workshops, artist talks, panel discussions, and networking opportunities led by experienced artists and arts professionals. Sessions focus on practical topics such as exhibition preparation, marketing, taxes, wholesale opportunities, grant writing, and career development.

✨ Stay tuned for updates✨ Now that we've secured funding, we're developing workshops, coordinating with partnering organizations and planning logistics.

This project was funded by a grant from the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation's Bronia Dibble Fund and Christos Papoutsy Art Ventures Fund.

Thank you New Hampshire Charitable Foundation

NHAA Members: New Call for Art 🎉

We invite artist members to reflect on travel, movement, and how places shape us. We encourage interpretations that range beyond photo documentation of where you have been, but creatively reflect on how travel impacts one's sense of self and belonging, home, interpersonal relationships, beliefs, cultural awareness, and outlook. Abstract and literal interpretations are both welcome.

This exhibition is members only, and will be on view in NHAA's South and Frazier galleries alongside Thor Art: A Retrospective, by longtime artist member Bob Thoresen. Submissions are limited to 1 entry per artist and will be lightly juried due to space limitations.

📆 Submissions due: Sept 22, 11:59pm
📍Exhibition dates: Sept 30-Nov 1

Get to know Lotte Jacobi, the namesake behind our annual photography exhibition 📸

Lotte Jacobi ran her family's photography studio before fleeing Nazi-occupied Berlin for New York City in 1935, eventually settled in Deering, NH. Jacobi was one of the founders of NHAA, helping put photography as fine art on the map in New Hampshire.

In 1985, she donated her papers and over 40,000 negatives to the University of New Hampshire, forming the Lotte Jacobi Collection, with the help of longtime NHAA member Gary Samson. The UNH Library has recently completed the digitization of thousands of photographs taken by Jacobi during a 1932-1933 trip to the Soviet Union and Central Asia. These photographs, along with Jacobi’s travel journal, are now available through the library’s Digital Collections.
