The New Hampshire Art Association is a non-profit art association founded in 1940, and as such is one of the oldest statewide art associations in the country. Currently there are over 250 juried members of painters, photographers,printmakers, sculptors, and other fine artists living and working primarily in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine, and Vermont. NHAA

Twenty-five thousand people per year engage with the NHAA Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery as well as their off-site exhibitions. Although visitors are primarily from New England, the NHAA has a significant international audience. The Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery hosts local artists shows throughout the year, opening their new shows in conjunction with the monthly Art 'Round Town gallery art walks in downtown Portsmouth. NHAA artists exhibit their work at the Prescott Park Arts Festival, Seacoast Repertory Theatre, the Smile Building in Concord, NH as well as Pop-Up Galleries around the state. Many events are linked to activities in local schools.

Celebrating a full house! 🥂

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the opening reception of Bob Thoresen's retrospective alongside NHAA member show Bon Voyage! It was a beautiful evening at the gallery.

We will be hosting a book signing for Bob at the gallery on October 24th at 1:00pm - join us as we chat with Bob about his collection and corresponding book of his work.

All work will be on view at the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery through October 29th.

Coming soon - Bon Voyage, an NHAA Member Exhibition

Travel can change how we see the world and ourselves. “Bon Voyage,” NHAA’s October member exhibition, invited artists to explore how movement, place and new experiences shape our sense of identity, belonging and home. Artist members look beyond straightforward documentation of places they have visited, and consider how travel affects their artistic practice, relationships, and outlook.

On view alongside “Thor Art: A Retrospective Look,” a career retrospective of Portsmouth artist Bob Thoresen, “Bon Voyage” offers distinct perspectives on travel and its influence on an artist’s work. Travel has been a recurring theme throughout Thoresen’s career, creating a natural connection between the two exhibitions. The resulting exhibition explores travel as both a physical journey and a personal experience. The works consider what happens when we leave familiar places, encounter new cultures and perspectives, and return home changed by what we have experienced.

Book Presales are Live 📚

Join us in celebrating Portsmouth icon Bob Thoresen's lifetime of artwork! Bob's new book, THOR Art: A Retrospective Look, is now available for presale. There are limited hardcover and softcover copies available, and purchases can be picked up on or after the opening reception on October 2nd.

Bob will be celebrating the opening of his retrospective at NHAA on October 2nd from 5-8pm, and NHAA is hosting a book signing on Saturday, October 24th at 1pm. All are welcome!
