Exhibition sneak peeks from the studios of Clay Art Center Artists-in-Residence!

Join us in the gallery on Wednesday, June 24, from 6:00-8:00pm to celebrate the achievements of the 2025-2026 residency cohort.

Discover the work of Rittenberg Artist-in-Residence Alvaro Villa with his solo exhibition “La House of Objects en el Orbital”, and view a concurrent joint exhibition from second-year residents Carley Holzem, Christine Raposas, and Westchester Community Foundation Fellow Stephanie Perez in “Living A Dream, Riding A Wave”.

The opening reception is free for the public to attend, and will include artist talks and light refreshments.

As we enter our seventh decade, our mission is clearer than ever: expand access, deepen partnerships, grow our scholarship program, and support the artists who make this community extraordinary. Living A Dream, Riding A Wave: this week’s edition of Clay Dish Blog

As Artists-in-Residence Carley Holzem, Christine Raposas, and Stephanie Perez prepare for their group exhibition at Clay Art Center, they reflect on what’s changed since their first resident exhibitions.

Each year in September, Clay Art Center welcomes a cohort of artists as part of the Residency Program, first started in 1998 by Reena Kashyap and Ruth Berelson. Over the course of the year-long residency, these emerging artists become a part of our community, teaching classes, assisting with studio tasks, and honing their techniques as they create a body of work, which then becomes the centerpiece of the summer exhibition calendar. On this week’s edition of Clay Dish Blog, learn more about how each of the participating artists in Living A Dream, Riding A Wave are approaching the upcoming exhibition, and how they’ve evolved since last year’s capstone shows.

Upcoming summer Exhibition at Clay Art Center Gallery!

This month at Clay Art Center Gallery, we are pleased to present Concurrent Artists-in-Residence Exhibitions featuring work from our 2025–2026 cohort. Pictured here is Community Arts Foundation Fellow Stephanie Perez, who shared a sneak peek of her wood-fired work with us during a recent studio visit. Stephanie graduated from Fordham University with a BS in Psychology and Sociology and teaches Community Arts programs at Clay Art Center in addition to maintaining her own ceramic art practice.

Please join us for the opening reception of Living A Dream, Riding A Wave, featuring work by Stephanie and fellow Artists-in-Residence Carley Holzem and Christine Raposas. The reception will take place on Wednesday, June 24, from 6:00–8:00 PM.

The exhibitions will be on view from June 24-August 3, 2026.

This past weekend students were able to enjoy a Raku workshop experience at Clay Art Center with Studio Manager August Brosnahan. Workshop participants learned the basics of Raku low fired glaze application, firing techniques, and had hands-on experience pulling their own pieces out from the hot kiln and transferring them to a lidded container filled with combustible materials.

Your dad doesn’t want socks for Father’s Day. He wants to take clay classes! With a wide range of class times and days at Clay Art Center this summer, dads can learn the potters wheel, make sculpture, or learn handbuilding.
