Spiny the spiny softshell turtle has settled into her new home! Look for her right across from George, our giant snapping turtle.

Softshell turtles are amazing underwater breathers. They can stay hidden for 20 minutes to 5 hours, stretching their long neck up just enough to poke their tiny snorkel‑like nose out of the water. Sometimes Spiny buries herself in the sand, so don’t worry if she’s not visible right away—she loves to hide!

Come see if you can spot her, and meet the rest of our awesome animal ambassadors while you’re here.
