Heard Museum It consists of 12 galleries featuring American Indian art and exhibitions, an outdoor sculpture gallery, a world-class museum shop and an outdoor café.

“Wisdom from the Future” is an exhibition that asks a compelling question: What wisdom would Indigenous artists share with their younger selves? Pairing 28 artists’ responses with examples of their work, join Chief Curator Diana Pardue in the gallery as she explores the artistry and inspiration behind the exhibition.

There’s still a few days left to experience “Paintings from the Heard Collection!” Open through September 7, the Grand Gallery exhibition features more than 30 large-scale works by Indigenous artists spanning multiple generations and offers a dynamic view of Native painting through the decades. ✨

The exhibition was co-curated by Cherokee artist Kay WalkingStick in collaboration with Heard Museum Curator Roshii Montaño (Diné) for a renewed look at the Heard Museum collection’s enduring strength.

In this large-scale painting by Mario Martinez, the artist portrays Yaqui worldviews and metaphysical realms through his use of abstraction. 🌎

Martinez draws inspiration from nature to produce a colorful interpretation of the Flower World (Sea Ania). In his own words, “The Flower World, the flower as a symbol for the Yaqui, is the most important in our spirituality.”

Through live demos, guided activities, and an interactive sports workshop, learn how these games are played, where they come from, and the values they carry. 🏔️

Worl, Hopson, and Quinto will share One Foot High Kick (pictured), Two Foot High Kick, Alaskan High Kick, Seal Hop, Inuit Stick Pull, Dene Stick Pull, and Scissor Broad Jump. In “Day of the Council” by Joan Hill (Muscogee Creek/Cherokee, 1930-2020), the artist centers multiple generations of Native women as decision makers and important leaders in their communities.

Inspired by her heritage, Hill also emphasizes cultural regalia such as turtle shell leggings and layered garments as symbols of authority within Muscogee and Cherokee traditions.
