A Film Screening and Panel on Endometriosis - Rooted in the Knowledge of SWANA Women

September 5th, FREE at Vox Populi
Doors at 1:00pm, Film 1:30pm, Panel 2:00pm *masked event!

Two out of four members of Batikh Batikh identify as having endometriosis, so as part of Black Box Presents: Arts in Action, which connects the arts to social justice activism, the collective wanted to focus on women’s and q***r health access, endometriosis and South-West Asian North African (SWANA) culture. The event will feature a screening of Malak AlSayyad’s short documentary, I Told You So, an intimate first-person exploration of navigating life and love with chronic pain, while battling dismissive doctors, a skeptical mother, and that relentless inner voice telling you that it's all in your head. Afterwards, there will be a panel featuring the filmmaker, as well as local and international doctors, researchers and artists who focus on endometriosis and/or have the condition.

Presented as part of "Black Box Presents: Arts in Action," a yearlong series exploring how the arts support movements for social change, made possible with lead support from the People’s Media Fund peoplesmediafund

OPEN CALL!!

Vox Populi is now accepting submissions for Wooden Nickel: A $99 Exhibition, the fifth anniversary of our annual exhibition and fundraiser.

Artists living within 90 miles of Philadelphia are invited to submit up to two works measuring roughly 8 x 10 inches. Selected works will be exhibited at Vox Populi from December 4–20, 2026, with every piece priced at $99 and the artist’s identity revealed only after purchase.

For five years, the $99 Exhibition has brought artists and collectors together through an anti-auction format that makes collecting art more accessible, while raising thousands of dollars that have been reinvested into exhibitions, public programs, artist support, and Vox Populi’s ongoing work as an independent artist-run space.

Deadline: September 27 at 11:59 PM
Preview Event: December 2, 6–8 PM

Mark your calendars, pull down your pants and bend over, cause it's time to meet the Cleaver’s!

SITUATIONAL BEAVER brings a q***r, absurdist twist to the 1950s family sitcom, following a young boy whose new outfit sends his father into an increasingly unhinged campaign to restore order to the household.
Presented as the filming of a lost television episode, this original live comedy features projected environments, visible theatrical mechanics, a meddling showrunner, and the gradual collapse of the American family ideal.

Black Box Presents - Arts in Action with Hot Bits: Pervert Futurism
August 28th, FREE Doors at 6:30PM, Location TBD (Announced Soon)

Join Vox Populi & Hot Bits for "Pervert Futurism;" a film screening and panel discussion exploring the overlooked utopian possibilities in communal/shared sexuality amidst trying times. Considering works that expand and bridge genres, enact sexual freedom as a political right, and inspire laughter; the film selection draws from our favorite films from the first several years of Hot Bits Film Festivals 2017-19. Our utopia is sexually inclusive, celebrates expansive desires, and unfettered creative perversion.
