Founded in 2012, Arch Enemy Arts is an exhibition space for established and emerging artists from all over the world, actively working in the vast and imaginative movement of New Contemporary Art. The curation at Arch Enemy Arts focuses on representational drawing, painting, and sculpture with emphasis in pop surrealism, magical realism, and post-graffiti genres. Our programming provides access to a range of artistic expression through a variety of styles and mediums—dedicated to showcasing the strikingly unconventional, highly technical, and utterly bizarre. The Gallery:
With over 1,500 square feet of exhibition space, AEA releases new exhibitions every two to three weeks, featuring multiple solos and one group exhibition per month. The best way to stay up-to-date with our programming is to sign up for our bi-monthly Newsletter. There, you can request the Collector’s Preview for a particular show and receive early-access to exhibitions before the general release. Opening receptions for all of our shows take place on the First Friday of every month from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. as part of Old City District’s First Friday event series. The Boutique:
Our store-front boutique displays a rotating curation of original past catalog artwork as well as fine art giclée prints, screenprints, and small items like pins, patches, stickers, cards, jewelry, and apparel. We carry Hi-Fructose and Beautiful Bizarre magazines and tend to have issues in stock even after they’ve sold out online. Prints, apparel, and select boutique inventory can be found in our online store.

Email us with JULIET SCHRECKINGER in the subject line to receive the link November 5th at 2pm EST.

Here are some really great shots of our current group show, IMAGINARY MENAGERIE VII, in all its glory. Given the season, this theme is an absolute dream for anyone who loves folklore, mythology, and all things strange and magical. Featuring 30 artists interpreting legendary monsters, spirits, and mythical beasts through their own unique styles, every piece brings something unexpected to stories behind creatures they chose. IMAGINARY MENAGERIE is on view through November 1st, and there’s still an incredible selection of original artwork available to add a little magic to your own walls.

Also, fun fact for anyone noticing the sloped floors in these photos! AEA occupies the ground-floor commercial space of a 169-year-old building that’s considered one of Philly’s best surviving examples of 19th-century cast-iron architecture. At one point, this space was home to a wholesale dye store, and we’ve been told that the floors, which slope nearly 6 inches from back to front, were actually designed that way so heavy barrels of dye could be rolled from deliveries in the back toward the front of the shop. Pretty wild, right?! The more you know! 💫

Thanks Doin Stuff for the beautiful pics.

A HUGE congrats to the wonderful Haley Manchon on her completely SOLD OUT solo, CLYDE’S ADVENTURE! 👏 We’ve spent the last month enjoying this ridiculously charming series on our street-facing front wall, and we’re really going to miss these little guys when they head off to their new homes. Luckily, you’ve still got ONE LAST WEEKEND to see them in person!

We’re open with extended hours until 6pm today and tomorrow for POST The Center for Emerging Visual Artists (CFEVA)! Plus, we’ve got local Philly street artist homie EMM popping up with tees, prints, and ceramics today from 12–5pm, and candy for Sunday’s HALLOWEEN IN THE HISTORICAL DISTRICT trick-or-treat stroll. Come see us! 🎃

One of the best things about our IMAGINARY MENAGERIE series is finding out which legendary beasts, creatures, and cryptids our artists choose to bring to life. This year Evan Lovejoy went for a super fun deep cut choice with the Vegetable Lamb of Tartary - a new one for our bestiary! 🐑🌱 According to medieval folklore, this bizarre little creature grew from a plant, attached to the earth by a flexible stalk, and could only graze on the grass within its own reach. We absolutely love Evan’s gorgeous interpretation and jewel tone palette for this super fun legend, and we’re stoked to have it part of the show. Come see the exhibition on our walls through November 1st or visit each piece online via our website. Gallery hours and exhibition links can be found in our profile.

Really big smile. Really tiny teeth. Absolutely excellent possum! 😂 This ridiculously charming lil’ guy from Kristen Egan’s AU NATUREL solo is surprisingly still up for grabs. In fact, only a couple masks are still available, so if you’ve been thinking about adding one of her pieces to your collection - now’s the time! Come meet this happy little legend in person or DM/email us if you’d like us to red dot him for you. AU NATUREL is up on the walls through November 1st.
