COUNTERMARCH!!! (20 Years Ago) 6 - 8 October 2006: 144th Anniversary of the Battle of Perryville

From our website, "Your Correspondent was invited by his pard, Mike Dawes, to join the ranks of his regiment for the 144th anniversary reenactment of the Battle of Perryville in central Kentucky. The catch was that his unit, the 9th Texas Infantry, are Rebels thereby necessitating this die-hard bluebelly to don the gray. Challenging as it was to cross the line, if only for one weekend, it was well worth being suspected of treason by my mates in the 67th NY back home. Well organized, well attended, and blessed with abundant sunshine and dry weather, the weekend could not have played out better for Rebel and Yank alike. Never having fought west of the Appalachians, it gave an Easterner a glimpse of the Western theater and the chance to learn what makes these Rebels tick..."

"Saturday's scenario was 'the Fight for Loomis Heights' while Sunday's was 'the Fight for Open K**b'. Both scenarios and indeed the whole reenactment were held on the original battlefield itself...not a common occurrence in this hobby. The 9th Texas formed the core of the Red River Battalion that also included the 6th Texas Infantry and the 32nd Mississippi Infantry... none of whom minded having a Yankee disguised in the ranks..."

"After Sunday's fight and returning to our temporary base in Louisville, we took some time to visit the humble origins of our 16th President. Ironically, Abraham Lincoln's Birthplace and his boyhood home at K**b Creek are both very close to Perryville itself. Paying homage to the Commander of the Union Armies certainly served as penance for this wayward Yankee."

NEW VIDEO: 2026 August 22 - 23: Living History at Gettysburg National Park

After 14 years, the 67th NY returned to Gettysburg National Park's living history program. Our host and director of the program, NPS Ranger Matt Atkinson, placed us at the Spangler's Spring demo area as our original regiment fought on Culp's Hill just up the road. We were joined by four members of the 104th Pennsylvania and while we did have a brief yet powerful storm on Saturday night, we couldn't have asked for better weather for late August with temps never getting above 80F. Hopefully, Ranger Atkinson will have us back next year.

CANCELED!!! September 27th meeting & drill at the Grange

Due to the incoming Nor'easter, our monthly meeting and drill at the Grange in Sayville, NY scheduled for Sunday, September 27th.

Our next meeting will be on Sunday, October 25th at the VFW Post 2913 at 32 Edwards Street, Patchogue, NY 11772

Photos from one of our monthly drills at the Grange in Sayville. This month, we were getting ready for our pilgrimage down to Virginia for the Battle of Cedar Creek. And we trained the Freshest Fish in our ranks, Jeff Speight.

COUNTERMARCH!!! (15 Years Ago) 24 - 25 September 2011: 3rd Annual Civil War Weekend at the Grange

From our website, "The forecasted washout never materialized and so our Third Annual Civil War Weekend at the Grange went off without a hitch. Public attendance had never been greater and the 67th NY fielded its largest showing ever of twenty-four for both Saturday and Sunday. We had our friends from the 9th Virginia and 30th Virginia filling out the Confederate camp while Company H of the 14th Brooklyn set up their Hospital. We too had our first ever hospital staffed by our new Surgeon and Nurse. We also had our very first Sutler, the Florance Drum Company, who braved Long Island traffic to do respectable business. The Sons & Daughters of Union Veterans gave us a hand on Saturday as did the Blacksmith and local artisan, Jamie Reason. And of course there was plenty of music with Dylan and Fairchild on Saturday and the Old Bethpage Brass Band on Sunday. Both the battles and Saturday Night's candlelight tour were crowd pleasers and media coverage had never been greater with both Newsday and Cablevision Channel 12 shooting video that can be seen on our Home Page. Special thanks to the public, especially Larry Chatterton and Tim Butler for contributing many of the photos. This will be one tough act to follow..."
