It happened just last week, in 1955. A terrible accident in San Luis Obispo County claimed the life of 24-year-old James Dean, a talented Hollywood actor.

According to preliminary reports, James Dean was driving west on Highway 46 when Donald Gene Turnupseed began a left turn onto the “Y” junction with Highway 41. The two cars collided, and Dean’s car turned into a smoking pile of metal.

We're going back to the movies! Paso Robles has had a theater in town since at least 1909! The first were the Bell Theater on 12th Street, between Pine and Park, and the T&D Jr. on the grounds of the Hotel El Paso de Robles. The T&D Theatre on 12th Street between Spring and Vine Street (1930-1957) was followed by the Hi Ho and Fox Theaters on Spring Street. Now we have our wonderful Park Cinemas on Pine Street!

Theaters may change over the decades, but one thing remains the same, their tasty popcorn! 🍿 Which theater would you want to watch a film in?
