Some of Whitehall’s most remarkable works of art aren’t hanging on the walls—they’re overhead.

The ceiling murals throughout the first floor are more than decorative masterpieces—they’re filled with symbolism, artistry, and illusion. In the Music Room, a reproduction of Guido Reni’s “Aurora (Dawn)” creates the impression of a soaring dome through clever architectural design and lighting. In the Grand Hall, the Oracle of Delphi is surrounded by mythological figures representing knowledge, creativity, and truth, reflecting the house’s many references to Apollo and the ancient muses. In the Drawing Room, nine playful putti drift among the clouds in a mural particularly designed for the room, seamlessly integrated into the ceiling itself.
