Oxnard Historic Farm Park & Museum Creating a museum for Oxnard’s early history

The Oxnard Historic Farm Park is home to the two oldest buildings on the Oxnard Plain, an 1870 Farmhouse and an 1869 Winery/Residence brick building, plus a towering 1800s Canary Island Date Palm, an 1890s Carriage House, two vineyards of 1880s Zinfandel Franc grapes, a lemon orchard, an avocado grove, and five historically representative gardens, 9 vintage tractors, 2 lima bean threshers and numerous farm implements and history library with local history books and 2 lb. We have an acre of land available for private events including weddings, baby showers, birthdays, reunions, memorials, retirement and other private parties. We host an annual Spring/Summer evert plus an annual Lima Bean Fest on the second Saturday in September and we are part of Ventura County Farm Day the 1st Saturday in November. The Oxnard Historic Farm Park & Museum is run by the Oxnard Historic Farm Park Foundation, which is a local 501c(3). The Board currently consists of:

In order to recreate the original 1870 porch we had to eliminate later 1920 porch and upstairs bedroom, raise the house 4 feet, add a new foundation and gently return the house to its new home. Fun stuff.

My former Yankee teammate is now my Farm Park teammate. We may not have won too many games in little league but here in the big leagues of the Farm Park restoration we are leading the division. We renovated 2 rooms and now working on the kitchen. Thanks to the Lima Bean Fest we’ve reunited to hit it out of the park.

Thanks to Quinn Gunderson for donating an old family heirloom, a vintage 1880s barrel butter churn sold by Baker & Hamilton who sold California hardware and agricultural equipment. Instead of selling this to us on Marketplace, Quinn decided to donate to our nonprofit. It totally fits the era we’re trying to represent.

Thanks to our multiple vendors who donated the product and time for our fundraiser that brought in over $5k and counting: Adolfo Grill, this years winner; BGs Cafe; Halo Cookie Co with the Lima Bean Doodle Co., Spanish Hills Club who has their nutritious LB hummus on their menu and last but not least, Scott and Katie from Strey Cellars and Camarillo Barrel Works who provided the beverages.
