🏛️ THE ORFORD HISTORICAL SOCIETY AT THE 51st ORFORD FLEA MARKET! 🏛️

What an exciting first day for the Orford Historical Society at the 51st Annual Orford Flea Market!

For the first time ever, the Orford Historical Society has a booth at this wonderful two-day community tradition, and we couldn’t be happier to be here representing and sharing the history of our town.

We were very fortunate to secure a booth, and yesterday gave us the perfect opportunity to share so much of what the Historical Society is all about. Our booth was filled with historic photographs, informational pamphlets, T-Shirts, postcards to give away, information about our upcoming programs and events, highlights from past events, and—most importantly—lots of wonderful conversation!

Throughout the day, so many people stopped by to look at the photographs, pick up information, share memories and stories, ask questions, and simply talk about Orford. It was especially meaningful to hear from community members who expressed how important they feel the Historical Society is to our town and how much they value the work being done to preserve and share Orford’s history.

Those conversations reminded us exactly why we do what we do. ❤️

The Orford Historical Society isn’t simply about preserving objects, photographs, and documents—it is about preserving the stories of the people who have made Orford the community it is today and making sure those stories continue to be shared with future generations.

What a pleasure it was to see so many familiar faces—and to meet so many new ones—at this incredible community event!

What a Wonderful Evening of Music, History, and Community!

The Orford Historical Society extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us for our Annual Celebratory Historic Pipe Organ Concert at the Orfordville Congregational Church. What an extraordinary evening it was!

The church was filled with friends, neighbors, and visitors who came together to celebrate one of Orford’s most treasured traditions. The beautiful sounds of our historic pipe organ echoed throughout the sanctuary as Rev. Rob Noble delighted us with inspiring selections by Johann Sebastian Bach, beloved traditional hymns, and familiar songs that brought smiles, memories, and even a few voices singing along.

A special highlight of the afternoon was Rev. Noble’s fascinating presentation on the history of the Orford churches and the remarkable legacy of his ancestor, Rev. Obadiah Noble, the first minister to serve the Orford community. His stories connected us to the people and events that helped shape our town more than two centuries ago.

Following the concert, guests enjoyed wonderful refreshments and the opportunity to visit, reminisce, and reconnect with old friends while welcoming new ones. It was a perfect reminder that preserving history is not only about buildings and artifacts—it’s about bringing people together through shared experiences and traditions.

The Orford Historical Society is deeply grateful to Rev. Rob Noble for returning to Orford to share his remarkable musical talents and historical knowledge. We also extend our sincere appreciation to our volunteers and everyone who attended and helped make this year’s concert such a memorable success.

This annual celebration continues to honor our historic pipe organ—recognized on the New Hampshire Register as the oldest organ in the state—and we look forward to welcoming you back next year as we continue this cherished Orford tradition.

This special late-afternoon program will bring together music, history, and heritage, including the fascinating story of the founding and history of the church, a presentation about its historic pipe organ, beautiful organ music performed by Rev. Rob Noble, and a fun community sing-along!

Experience the beautiful sounds of the church’s remarkable historic organ—recognized on the New Hampshire Registry as the oldest organ in the State of New Hampshire—played by Rev. Rob Noble, former minister of the church.
