Our hearts are heavy at the Museum of East Alabama.

Today one of East Alabama’s best, Libba Lipscomb, was laid to rest.

When you walk through this museum, I hope you can feel her presence because she is undoubtedly still here. She lived in the very fibers that hold this place together, woven into every corner of its story. From the founding of the Museum in 1989, to its formation of its first board, Ms. Libba was more than a supporter- she was, an continues to be, part of its heartbeat. Her care, her belief, and her steady presence helped shape what this museum is today.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have known such a remarkable woman.

Though she is no longer with us in the way we wish, her spirit and her impact remain. We will carry her legacy forward at the Museum of East Alabama- with gratitude, with purpose, and with love.

We love you Ms. Libba!

Our deepest condolences go out to the Lipscomb family 🩷.
