Do you fish in the lower Cahaba River watershed? We want to hear from you!

Anglers are invited to join us on September 24 at the Dallas County Extension Office for a community workshop as part of an EPA-funded project led by Auburn University.

We're working with anglers and local communities to better understand aquatic litter challenges and identify strategies to help keep our waterways clean and healthy. Whether you fish occasionally or spend every chance you get on the water, your experiences and perspectives can help inform future solutions and outreach efforts.

Love Alabama’s outdoors and want to turn that interest into action?

The Alabama Master Naturalist Program helps adults build a deeper understanding and appreciation of Alabama’s natural world through science-based education, hands-on learning and volunteer service. Participants learn about the state’s natural resources while gaining the knowledge and experience needed to support conservation, education and natural resource management in their own communities.

Becoming a certified Alabama Master Naturalist includes completing a self-paced online course, attending two field days and completing 30 volunteer hours in Alabama. The program is designed for adults who enjoy nature, like spending time outdoors and want to make a difference through conservation and stewardship.

The Great Southeast Pollinator Census is scheduled for tomorrow!
If rain moves into your area, don’t worry, you’ll still have an opportunity to count.

Sunday, Aug. 23, and Monday, Aug. 24, have been added as designated rain dates so schools, groups and individuals can reschedule planned counting events if needed.

The forecast may look favorable across much of Alabama, but as we know, pop-up showers can happen. If weather interrupts your plans, simply move your count to one of the additional rain dates and keep participating.

The countdown is on! The Great Southeast Pollinator Census returns August 21–22, and now is the time to get ready to count.

Join Aubie and citizen scientists across the Southeast for this fun, 15-minute activity that helps researchers learn more about the pollinators visiting our gardens, yards and communities. Simply choose a flowering plant, count the insects that land on it and submit your results.
