Generation features three artists from one family! Although they work in different mediums - glass, paint, paper mache - a distinct artistic energy unites these three generations.

Mark Peiser (Great Uncle), Watie White (Uncle), and Calista White (Niece) are showing their work together for the first time at Gallery 1516. Come enjoy their captivating, detail-oriented artwork through August 16th.

Call for Artists! Applications for the 2026 Regional Photography Biennial open June 19th.

The Regional Photo Biennial is a juried exhibition that celebrates the work of fine art photographers. Eligible artists include current and former residents of Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, South Dakota, and Wyoming. Both professionals and students are welcome to apply.

This exhibition features $19,000 in various awards, including $10,000 for the Best in Show photograph! Artists also receive 100% of artwork sales, with no commission fees. Gallery 1516 is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting artists.

Art is a family affair at Gallery 1516! Visit our latest exhibition, featuring three generations of artists from one family.

The artists will be giving a public talk about their work Saturday, June 13 at 7pm.

Mark Peiser is an internationally known glass artist. His nephew Watie White is a longtime Omaha resident who creates detailed, large-scale artwork. His niece Calista White is a student at the University of Louisville who uses various disciplines in her sculptures. These three have never shown together before, yet there are many through lines that connect their distinct artistic styles.

Gallery 1516 is free and open to the public.

Watie White, Mark Peiser, and Calista White, who are featured in Gallery 1516's current exhibition, will speak about their individual work and how the three family members have come to show their art together for the first time.

Coming Soon to Gallery 1516! Our new exhibition "Generation" features three generations of artists from one family: Mark Peiser, Watie White, and Calista White.

Save the date for the Public Opening on Friday, June 5th from 6-8pm.

These artists have never shown together before, yet there are many through lines that connect their distinct artistic styles. All three share a common interest in the lived human experience, and what it means to be a creature that feels, acts, and interacts with others.

Two unique photography collections are on display at Gallery 1516, until May 24th!

"Don Doll's Visions" is a collection of photos celebrating the communities of the Pine Ridge and Rosebud reservations of South Dakota. The photographer, Rev. Don Doll, will be joining us for an artist talk this Saturday, May 16th at 4pm. Be sure to stop by to hear the amazing stories behind his work!

Also on display is "The Artist as Muse," featuring portraits of local and international artists in the unusual role of subject rather than creator. You'll recognize familiar faces like Mary Zicafoose and Watie White, alongside rare images of Picasso, Matisse, and more.

Photographer Don Doll, SJ is joining us Saturday, May 16th at 4pm for a special artist talk! His photo collection "Visions" is currently on display at Gallery 1516.

Fr. Doll is an acclaimed photographer and Jesuit priest who has spent decades documenting and celebrating native cultures. The photos on display are drawn from his years working with the Lakota peoples of the Pine Ridge and Rosebud reservations of South Dakota.

Don't miss a rare chance to hear the stories behind Fr. Doll's photographs!

Join us this Sunday, May 10th for the FINAL Bagels & Sometimes Bach music performance of the spring!

🎼 This special Mother's Day performance features violinist Olga Smola and pianist Yulia Kalashnikova. Along with their amazing music, you can also enjoy complimentary mimosas to celebrate the occasion!

Doors open at 11:00am, Performance starts at 11:30am

This event is FREE and open to the public, but donations are appreciated! Gallery 1516 is a non-profit organization that relies on your generosity to continue our mission. We always pay our musicians for their performances and pay for the complimentary refreshments provided each week. Thank you for helping us continue these programs!

Check out two stunning photography collections, on display at Gallery 1516 through May 24th!

"Don Doll's Visions" documents the communities from various reservations in South Dakota and "The Artist as Muse" features portraits of renowned artists. We've developed both of these collections into traveling exhibitions which we loan to regional museums, as part of our mission to celebrate Nebraska and regional arts!
