Orcas Island Artworks An artist's cooperative gallery filled with gorgeous artwork. Established in 1981, our gallery is one of the oldest artist cooperatives in the country.

We represent over forty Orcas Island artists and crafts people, working in pottery, sculpture, jewelry, glass, wood, paintings, prints, wearable art, fiber and more. e is the unique opportunity of meeting one or more of them on any given day. Artworks has returned to their permanent location in the historic Strawberry Barreling Building in Olga village at the corner of Olga Road and Point Lawrence Road. The Catkin Café is located in the same building.

Artworks Artist Saturday demos! You are invited to visit Orcas Island Artworks and gain some insight into how the magic happens! Tomorrow, Saturday, June 13, we will kick off this weekly artist demo event with two artists:
– 11 AM to 1 PM Mandy Troxel will be introducing the art of painting with wool
- 1 PM to 4 PM. Leon Rosenblatt will be demoing his exquisite graphite drawing.

Our featured Artist wall for the moth of June exhibits a new painting in oil by Chandelle Anderson. Chandelle's ceramic work is what you will usually find at the gallery, but Chandelle also has a keen eye for painting and drawing.

This series began as an experiment in color perception. She says "the process is meditative and methodical. Translucent layers of blue, yellow, and red are applied separately between semi-opaque layers of white. Each layer is allowed to dry fully before applying the next. This subtle layering effect blends the color in the eye rather than on the canvas, to create depth and luminosity in the same way as separate wavelengths of light."

Leon Rosenblatt is not only one of our new artists at Orcas Artworks, but he is also our featured artist for February and March. His current work, REMNANTS from the Future, incorporates both organics and manmade “urban” fossils, depicting the remains of our culture as may be discovered many millennia from now.
