Amazing! I'm familiar with the Ghent Alterpiece as should anyone with any background in art history, but I had no idea about some of these details. Stunning, especially given the age in which it was painted.

It's THAT time again- Open Show 2026! This photo from last year is a great reminder of what a spectacle this event is. Intake of artwork begins this TUESDAY the 18th, and runs through SATURDAY 22nd or until we burst at the seams- whichever comes first. (Seriously, last year we were full early Saturday, so keep that in mind procrastinators!) Entry form are on our website and we may have a few on hand if needed. Remember, Open Show is exactly that- amateur, student, professional, local, otherworldly... Be brave, put yourself out there! This show always produces numerous surprises when it comes to entries, selections and prizes. The Salon showing of all entries will be Monday 24 - Sunday 30.

This is the last week of the Fountain City Art Guild show. If you haven't been it is a must see! Every work of art carries some kind of story and this one is no different. The artist loaded her work in the car and drove off, until she heard the center panel fly off the roof and land in the middle of Broadway! She got out, painting just lying there as car after car passed until "CRUNCH!" Yep, flattened like Wile E. Coyote. She was able to repaint a new panel, perfectly matching the two on the outside; not an easy task! This tryptic greets you as you enter the show. Bonus- classes are on break this week, so parking! 🎉🎊🎇🎊🎉

Well, we didn't get a giant addition built onto the building yet, nor have we found a way to add an 8th day to the week. So, to accommodate our now famous wait lists, and offer unique additions for our current students, we are massively expanding our weekend class and workshop offerings! Here's what's on tap for the next few weeks, with more added weekly. More information and sign-up available at oakridgeartcenter.org or by calling the gallery during business hours. Most classes are between 3 and 6 hours long, with the occasional two day thrown in. Take a morning and learn something new while basking in our glorious air-conditioning!

Registration for Fall session 8-week classes will post Friday afternoon. Some workshops such as Torch Fired Enamels and Landscape Pendant may not be on our site yet as we hammer out the final details, but you can call the gallery and get your name on the list for when they become available in the coming days.
