🌧️ What do you do when yesterday's unexpected rain means you can't pick your dahlias?

Make wreaths! 🌸

The dahlias were out there blooming beautifully in the rain, so it turned out to be the perfect excuse to sit down, pull out all those flowers I've been drying, and get going on some new wreaths.

One of my favorite things about growing flowers is getting to enjoy them in so many different ways—and I love that the flowers I've been harvesting and drying all season get a whole new life in these wreaths.

Some makers have been part of the Made Local story for a very long time, and Lou Sparks is one of them. ❤️

Lou has been with us since our downtown Santa Rosa days, and her colorful, whimsical ceramics have been a customer favorite through the years. Today, she creates her work in the studio behind her home in Petaluma—and you can now find her creations at both our Santa Rosa and Novato stores.

Lou makes each piece by hand, shaping, decorating, glazing and firing small bowls, vases, hearts, ornaments and more. No two are exactly alike, and there's something wonderfully cheerful about her work. They're the kind of pieces that make you smile when you spot them on the shelf—and make especially sweet gifts.

And if you've shopped with us in the spring, you may already know Lou's ceramic garden stakes. They're perennial bestsellers and often a whole collection goes home to match what a customer is growing in their garden🌸🌿

We feel pretty lucky when we realize just how many talented makers have grown right alongside Made Local over the years. Lou is absolutely one of them.

🌸 That’s a wrap on Sunset Socials for the summer!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by Montgomery Village this summer to shop, sip, listen to music—and take home some of our locally grown flowers. It has been so much fun getting to share flowers with so many of you. 💐

But just because Sunset Socials are over doesn’t mean the flowers have to be!
