Last week, we asked what ride could be seen behind the Herschell Helicopters at Wonderland Amusement Park (Amarillo, TX) ... this week's #TravelTuesday features that ride!

Wonderland's Herschell Kiddie Boat ride was first featured at Playland Park, which was later renamed Neff's Amusement Park in San Angelo, Texas. The ride was later leased to Paul and Alethea Roads by Robert and Ruth Mikesell.

The Mikesell's were Alethea Road's parents, who along with the Roads and the ride, moved to Amarillo from San Angelo to start KiddieLand Park, later renamed Wonderland Park.

This week's #TravelTuesday brings us to Lagoon Amusement Park (Farmington, Utah), home to a unique Herschell Baby Boats ride!

Why is it unique, you ask? Well, compared to the usual Herschell Kiddie Boat rides, these 6 colorful boats are tugged around a oval-shaped stream by the a lead motorized boat known as the Lagoon Tow and Tug.

We have a pop quiz for you regarding this miniature train that operated at City Park (New Orleans City Park) in New Orleans, Louisiana!

What is the difference between the G-12 and G-16 train models manufactured by the Miniature Train Company, which were then eventually manufactured by the Allan Herschell Company?

This week's #TravelTuesday destination is home to a really joyful 1949 Herschell Carousel!

Botanica of Wichita, Kansas, introduced the Khicha Family Carousel in November 2019 after a 5-year restoration project. It all started when Margaret Nelson Spear, owner of the now-defunct Joyland Amusement Park (Wichita, Kansas), donated the park's former carousel to Botanica in May 2014.

From there, extraordinary efforts were taken to restore and preserve an important part of Wichita history for future generations to enjoy!

Take a look at this awesome shot of the Allan Herschell Monster Mouse (1982-2010) at Quassy Amusement and Waterpark! It appeared in Quassy's 2010 press kit, which was the last year the classic coaster operated at the park.

FUN FACT: Prior to operating at Quassy, the Monster Mouse operated at an amusement park in New York state from 1967-1981. Can you guess which park it is?

Even with the name "Little Beauty," this 1916 Herschell carousel proudly shines at our #TravelTuesday destination: Walker Hill in Griffin, Georgia!

The last public appearance of β€œLittle Beauty” was at the Atlanta Arts Festival in the late 1980s, and is one of only three operating hand-carved wooden carousels in the state of Georgia,

"NEW KID SPOT OPENS MAY 30 IN STRATFORD"

Today, we're going to throw it back to 1955, when Ahern's Playland (Stratford, Connecticut) first opened with 6 Herschell family and kiddie rides, including this 36-foot carousel! Later that season, a Herschell Jolly Caterpillar joined the ride line-up.

Check out The History of Lordship for a more in-depth look at the history of this classic kiddieland park, along with vintage photos of the park and its other rides! http://ow.ly/MsUJ50zzejr

Do you know anything about the status of Fantasy Island's Goosey Goosey Gander ride? I really hope some philanthropist buys it and donates it to you!
Do any copies of the book "Kiddielands, A Business with a Future" written by Allan Herschell in the 1950s still exist?
We attended an event on Leap Year Day (2/29/2020) at the Museum and had a great time. Now looking forward to other events and the National Carousel Association's visit in September 2020. Kudos to the staff for making the afternoon fun and informational.
Now that Fantasy Island has closed 😭, I hope you are able to buy that lovingly restored goose ride of theirs!
I found 9 of these Herschell 78 rpm records at an estate sale in Wichita Kansas today. I found a picture of the player too online. The sale never had a player. I take it these are hard to find since they were not available to the general public I assume. Just available to parks with a Herschell Carousel. I've collected 78 rpm records for 15+ years and these are the first of these I've ever found.
Thanks for the Carrousel horse display at the new GI Visitors Center!!!😘🎠

This is my mom. I think she was about 3 or 4. 😊
After visiting the Carousel in London, Ontario (Canada), I've been looking into its history a little bit. I wrote to the London Historical Society and they suggested I check with Western University Archives. I accessed what I could of the archives online and found two pictures of a carousel, or possibly two different carousels, one from 1922 and one from 1954. They can't be the one I visited this year as it was manufactured in 1960. I do know that the carousel there at the museum was once in London. Looking at this 1922 picture (taken in London, Ontario), is it the carousel now at the museum?
