Last week, we asked what ride could be seen behind the Herschell Helicopters at Wonderland Amusement Park (Amarillo, TX) ... this week's #TravelTuesday features that ride!
Wonderland's Herschell Kiddie Boat ride was first featured at Playland Park, which was later renamed Neff's Amusement Park in San Angelo, Texas. The ride was later leased to Paul and Alethea Roads by Robert and Ruth Mikesell.
The Mikesell's were Alethea Road's parents, who along with the Roads and the ride, moved to Amarillo from San Angelo to start KiddieLand Park, later renamed Wonderland Park.

This week's #TravelTuesday brings us to Lagoon Amusement Park (Farmington, Utah), home to a unique Herschell Baby Boats ride!
Why is it unique, you ask? Well, compared to the usual Herschell Kiddie Boat rides, these 6 colorful boats are tugged around a oval-shaped stream by the a lead motorized boat known as the Lagoon Tow and Tug.

This week's #TravelTuesday destination is home to a really joyful 1949 Herschell Carousel!
Botanica of Wichita, Kansas, introduced the Khicha Family Carousel in November 2019 after a 5-year restoration project. It all started when Margaret Nelson Spear, owner of the now-defunct Joyland Amusement Park (Wichita, Kansas), donated the park's former carousel to Botanica in May 2014.
From there, extraordinary efforts were taken to restore and preserve an important part of Wichita history for future generations to enjoy!

FUN FACT: Prior to operating at Quassy, the Monster Mouse operated at an amusement park in New York state from 1967-1981. Can you guess which park it is?

Today, we're going to throw it back to 1955, when Ahern's Playland (Stratford, Connecticut) first opened with 6 Herschell family and kiddie rides, including this 36-foot carousel! Later that season, a Herschell Jolly Caterpillar joined the ride line-up.
