We had the wonderful opportunity and honor of welcoming Mayor Marc Laredo and Meryl Kessler, the Director of Arts and Culture for the City of Newton, to the New Art Center today! ✨🎨

As our new Executive Director, Christina, begins this exciting chapter at New Art, today’s visit was a meaningful opportunity to share the work, mission, and community impact that continues to shape our organization.

We are deeply appreciative of the support and engagement from local leaders who recognize the value of the arts in strengthening and enriching our community in Newton.

Thank you again for visiting us and taking the time to learn more about our programs, students, teaching artists, and vision for the future. We look forward to continued collaboration and community connection in the years ahead!

Hi, New Art community!

I’m truly excited to be stepping into the role of Executive Director at New Art.

I care deeply about places like this, where people come not only to learn, but also to connect, experiment, and discover new aspects of themselves through creativity.

My path has taken me through classrooms, museums, and community spaces, but the thread has always been the same: making sure people feel that art is for them.

And New Art already does that. You can feel it the moment you walk in.

I’m here to listen, learn, and work alongside all of you to keep building something that feels open, vibrant, and essential to this community.

Newton Open Studios 2026 is here!!

We’re proud to partner with once again, with the New Art Center (61 Washington Park, Newton) serving as one of the major host sites featuring 20 local artists all under one roof! 🎨✨

Visitors can explore a wide range of artwork, meet artists in person, and plan their route using the interactive online map, with signature red balloons marking each location.
