Dear Friends! We are hosting a very special performance this coming Sunday at the Yamawaki Art and Cultural Center at Lasell University - Voices from Ukraine: Stories of War and Hope.

This original production is a heart-rending demonstration of the power of these young performers, who face daily existential assaults on their homes, schools, culture, hopes, and dreams -- as well as the deaths of family members and friends. The original production will share the words of ordinary Ukrainian children and young people, who tell the riveting human stories of the toll of the war in Ukraine and the heroic acts of its citizens.

This is a free event, with donations requested. All the funds raised from the performance will be going to provide trauma counseling and critical humanitarian aid to the children of war in Ukraine through a non-profit organization Common Man.

We hope you will be able to join us and please spread the word! To reserve your spot, make a donation and for more information, please visit https://givebutter.com/VoicesFromUkraine

Michael Herring is in town! Tomorrow he’ll be speaking about his awesome art at the Wedeman Gallery. We will also be talking about Bad Balance, zine culture and art collaborations through the years. Stop by if you are around!

Zines and Beyond
A Zine Showcase and Discussion by Michael Herring and Vladimir Zimakov
In 1997, while attending the Kansas City Art Institute, Michael Herring and Vladimir Zimakov founded Bad Balance, a zine featuring art, comics and creative writing. This do-it-yourself, cut-and-paste publication served as a perfect outlet for exploring a variety of image making techniques, experimental page layouts and artistic collaborations.

Guest Artist Talk – Michael Herring
Following the zine presentation, Michael will be sharing and discussing his current work and artistic process.
Michael Herring creates heavy-metal-inspired ink drawings and abstract and figurative acrylic paintings. His work consists of intense colors, abstract situations, and interesting faces.
Some of Michael’s work can be seen at www.michaelherring.net

Wedeman Gallery is located on the first floor of the Yamawaki Art & Cultural Center. The event will take place during the common hour, 2 to 3:15 pm.

Dear Friends! Please join us this Sunday, November 13th, at the Wedeman Gallery for the Opening Reception of our new exhibition - Dreamscapes, featuring the artwork of Inna Zhukovsky-zilber, Alisa Rodny, Alexandra Rozenman and Betya Abelev. The FB invite with more info is in the first comment.

This exhibition features work made in a variety of media by four women artists. The different media includes oil and watercolor paintings, mixed media paintings, monotype and relief multi-prints, as well as ceramic sculptures.

The unifying theme for these works is the motif of dreams and dreamscapes, exploring the entire spectrum of ephemeral and horrible. The boundary between dreams and nightmares can be blurry, and the work will reflect that subconscious process that can take us to places that are blissful, simple and recognizable as well as places that digest the unimaginable, sometimes at the same instant.

On the poster, left to right, details of works by Alisa Rodny, Inna Zhukovsky-Zilber, Betya Abelev, Alexandra Rozenman
Gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday, 1 - 4 pm (excluding the Thanksgiving week). Exhibitions are free and open to the public.
