Explore science, engineering, and more on the museum's first floor. Or head to the second floor to discover the interesting history of Licking County. The Works features a Hot Glass Studio where guests

can watch the art of glass blowing. A SciDome planetarium creates an immersive experience for guests. An Art Gallery featuring a variety of exhibitions each year is also part of this family-friendly destination!

: Did you know Heath, Ohio’s scientists calibrated atomic clocks, which are the most accurate timekeepers ever built? The clocks count the vibrations of atoms, which oscillate billions of times per second at a perfectly consistent rate. An atomic clock would lose less than 1 second every 300 million years!

Did you know The Works is part of the Air & Space Trail for America 250-Ohio? Follow in the footsteps (or flight paths) of pioneer aviators, innovators and explorers who helped the world take flight.

Visit our stop at The Works to step inside the Cessna airplane, a replica of the one flown by Jerrie Mock, the first woman to fly solo around the world in 1964. Then, check out a planetarium show to be immersed in space exploration.

Plus, explore more than 30 museums and historic sites to learn more about Ohio’s contribution to aviation and aerospace.

Ancient artisans in Egypt, and later Rome, created colorful glass beads, jewelry, bowls, and decorative objects by melting layers of glass together, dating back to more than 3,500 years! While glassblowing eventually became more common, glass fusing experienced a revival in the 20th century and remains a popular art form today.

Now it's your turn to become part of this centuries-old tradition! Anyone ages 6 and up can join us for Glass Fusing Open Studio tomorrow, Saturday, June 20, from Noon–3 PM. Create your own fused glass masterpiece with our monthly project, or create your own.

: What Do Ariel Compressors Actually Do? Think of a compressor like a super-powered pump. It squeezes gas into a smaller space, giving it more pressure so it can travel through pipelines, be stored underground, or power vehicles. Ariel compressors are used in all of these ways — and more!

Ariel is the world's largest manufacturer of reciprocating gas compressors. Ariel's story began with Jim Buchwald, a motorcycle enthusiast who set up a workshop in his own basement in Mount Vernon, Ohio. He and his partners built their first prototype compressor with no outside investors - just determination and ingenuity!
