Installed within a duplex at Nine Chapel — the striking 14-story condominium designed by SO–IL — the presentation brings together artworks and limited-edition design by Cameron Platter, Xandre Kriel, Gabrielle Kruger and other contemporary voices from Southern Africa, alongside furniture by Dokter and Misses. The Lattice Mirror collection by Bower x Spectrum is also on view, reflecting the shifting NYC light that streams into the apartment throughout the day.

Techno Loafer by Xandre Kriel.

Part sculpture, part lounge chair, a monolithic base of raw waxed steel holds a single continuous curve of soft, undulating rubber in perfect tension. Guided by gravity and informed by the Japanese joinery technique of Sashimono, the chair is assembled using only two bolts.

Industrial materials become unexpectedly tactile: geometric steel, waxed rubber, weight, tension, softness. Despite its austere form the chair offers an unexpectedly comfortable seat — a piece designed as much for contemplation as for repose.

The loveseat rose to popularity in wealthy Victorian homes — heavily padded, upholstered “courting benches” or tête-à-tête chairs designed so couples could sit close enough to whisper, but still behave.

Bofred’s Moore Bench feels like the loveseat’s contemporary heir — a little straight-laced in proportion, but with undeniable bedroom energy.

Standing in solidarity with the nationwide shutdown protesting ICE and practices that instill fear where dignity and due process should exist. This is a small gesture, but presence matters. Supporting a belief in humanity, accountability, and the right to live without fear, matters.

after the snow storm looking like iridescent (and very tempting) portals to another place, less freezing than this one ❄️

We’ve been quiet on this platform the last few weeks: it’s felt hard to be all business as usual while watching the horrifying acts of systemic violence and cruelty against immigrants and protestors unfold across the country and in Minnesota particularly. Nothing feels safe in this dystopian America, not even speaking out about it, but we have, to at the very least.

Ben Kennedy’s Holyrood Table pays homage to the late Art Deco landmark ‘Holyrood’—a cherished pale-pink heritage apartment block tucked into Cape Town’s city center. Its clean geometry and subtle glamour echo the building’s distinctive architecture, translating a piece of the city’s history into contemporary design.

Shown here in ash with a deep black Rubio Monocoat stain, the Holyrood Table is also available in white oak or walnut with a clear oil finish.
