The work now joins the Bennett Collection and will be held at the Muskegon Museum of Art, further situating Lammie-Hanson’s practice within an important institutional context.

We’re proud to celebrate an incredible milestone for artist and illustrator, Bryan Collier. “Black Boy, Rise”, written by Brynne Barnes and illustrated by Collier, was nominated for “Outstanding Literary Work – Children” at the 57th NAACP Image Awards on February 7, 2026. This powerful book uplifts the strength, dignity, and limitless potential of Black boyhood through Barnes’ lyrical storytelling and Collier’s signature visual language. Congratulations to Bryan and the entire creative team on this well-deserved recognition.

In Celebration of Mardi Gras!

The Golden Baby Doll Lady
Mixed media on reconstructed brown paper
87.5 x 90.5 in. (2014)

Artist: D. Lammie-Hanson

Rooted in New Orleans history, this large-scale portrait reclaims the symbolism of the “Brown Paper Bag Test,” transforming it into a monument to identity and resilience.

Drawing from the tradition of the Baby Dolls of Mardi Gras (est. 1912), the work honors women who used performance and presence to disrupt racial and gender hierarchies.

An image of defiance.
An image of sovereignty.
An image of cultural memory.

ROZEAL is a Yale-trained painter and former DJ whose work weaves Afro-Asiatic allegories, folklore, pop culture, and art history into vibrant narratives. Best known for her acclaimed a³ series, she explores Japanese youth subcultures and their appropriation of hip-hop through striking figurative paintings. Drawing from influences as wide-ranging as Erykah Badu, Tolkien, Adinkra symbols, and her own D.C. upbringing, ROZEAL creates fantastical worlds that feel both deeply personal and universally resonant.

Your Roots Sprawl From A Sacred Place - Hand-pulled fine art print, 2024

This limited-edition print by award-winning illustrator and collage artist Bryan Collier embodies extraordinary mastery. First created as an illustration for Bryan Collier’s acclaimed book Black Boy Rise (2025), this image now also lives as a hand-pulled fine art print, layered with depth and Collier’s signature collage style.

Produced at Raven Fine Art Studios under the direction of Curlee Raven Holton with master printer Jase Clark, the process preserves the dynamic, layered quality of Collier’s renowned collage practice—printing the foreground and background separately to honor the depth of his visual storytelling.

Every print is individually signed and numbered by Bryan Collier and finished with the Raven Studios embossed chop. Available now through Knowhere Art Gallery

Visit us at Center of Knowhere, 73 Circuit Ave, Oak Bluffs, MA, or contact us directly for acquisition details.
