New Harmony Working Men's Institute Indiana's oldest continually operating public library.

Library founded by William Maclure, who was a prominent part of the community of founded in New Harmony in 1824 by Robert Owen. In his words, it's mission is to dedicate itself to "the diffusion of knowledge by mutual instruction amongst the producing classes who labor with their hands, and gain their bread by the sweat of their brow."

Meet in the Street is back!!! Thank you to the Town Council for approving closing the 400 block of Tavern Street (up to the alley behind the gym) for the Meet in the Street community potluck to be held THIS SUNDAY -- October 23rd, beginning at 5:00 pm. The forecast calls for Sunday to be 80 degrees and the new venue is a beautiful tree-lined street in front of the WMI and Murphy Auditorium. Reserve your spot with a $5 ticket purchased at Capers (proceeds will go to defray the cost of the event), bring your best recipe, and join us for a magical evening! Space is limited.
