6 Henry County men are buried at Margraten

This Memorial Day and every day as we remember locally those who served and died for our freedom and for the freedoms of others, let's not forget those that are overseas.

Let us not forget those that are buried in the various American Battlefield Monument Cemeteries all over the world and the others who are listed on the Walls of the Missing.

In Henry County approximately 150 men and women have died in wars since 1917.

19 are listed as Missing in Action (MIA)

16 in WW2 and 3 during the Korean War

1 of our men was list as MIA until 2017 when his remains were identified with the use of DNA.

The pics below are people of the Netherlands who have adopted American graves at the American Cemetary at Margraten and honor them by putting flowers on their graves.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ A Memorial Day Reminder πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

As parades, ceremonies, and moments of remembrance take place across our nation, let us remember what this day truly asks of us.

When the American Flag πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ passes by, please stand. Remove your hat. Place your right hand over your heart. Pause your conversations. Veterans may render a hand salute.

These small acts matter.

They teach our children that the flag is not just fabric β€” it carries the memory of those who served, sacrificed, and never returned home.

Memorial Day is not simply the start of summer. It is a solemn day of remembrance for the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

At Taps for Veterans, we honor that promise through 24 notes β€” sounded live, with dignity, reverence, and gratitude.

May we never forget.

24 Notes. One Final Promise.
