More recognition for Entangled in the Mangroves!

The publication for The Baker Museum’s award-winning 2025 exhibition has received a Gold Award in the Southeastern Museums Conference’s Exhibition Competition, adding another honor to an exhibition that explored the distinctive landscape and ecology of the Everglades through art.

Curated by Dianne Brás-Feliciano, curator of modern art, and organized in collaboration with the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida, Entangled in the Mangroves featured nine South Florida artists whose work explored the beauty, complexity and fragility of this extraordinary ecosystem.

Congratulations to Dianne, the artists and everyone who helped bring the exhibition and publication to life!

For the past few weeks, we’ve loved welcoming students from across Collier and Lee counties to our cultural campus and seeing the next generation engage with the arts!

The music continues this week with Link Up: The Orchestra Moves, October 13-14, presented in partnership with Carnegie Hall. Students will join the Naples Philharmonic for an interactive exploration of how music moves through sound and rhythm, featuring works by Beethoven, Bizet and Strauss II.

Our work with Carnegie Hall is growing, too: This season, we’re proud to expand our partnership through Carnegie Hall’s Well-Being Concerts, bringing immersive musical experiences focused on listening, connection and well-being to Artis—Naples.

It’s almost here! In just one week, The Surrealist International: Fifty Years of Dreams opens at The Baker Museum, celebrating 100 years of surrealism.

Before the exhibition opens next Saturday, October 17, join curator Matthew Gale on Friday, October 16, at 4pm for a special lecture offering insight into this expansive look at surrealism’s global reach. Drawn entirely from the collection of Tate, United Kingdom, the exhibition brings together paintings, photographs, sculptures and objects by artists including Salvador Dalí, René Magritte, Joan Miró, Leonora Carrington and more.

A memorable opening night in Orange County!

Last night, our Sharon and Timothy Ubben Artistic and Music Director Alexander Shelley made his debut as artistic and music director of Pacific Symphony, leading the orchestra at the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall alongside Grammy Award-winning violinist Joshua Bell.

The celebratory program marked both the beginning of Alexander’s inaugural season and major anniversaries for the concert hall and Segerstrom Center for the Arts, with music by Jessie Montgomery, Joan Tower, Florence Price, Leonard Bernstein and George Gershwin.

Artis—Naples CEO and President Kathleen van Bergen and Executive Vice President, Artistic Operations David Filner were on hand to help celebrate the occasion.

Warmest congratulations to Alexander on a remarkable first night and this new chapter with Pacific Symphony.

Happy 85th birthday, Dale Chihuly!

Today, we are proud to mark this special occasion by spotlighting one of Chihuly’s works currently on view in The Passion of Collecting: Stories in Glass and Ceramics from the Sibrack Collection.

With its twisting forms, vibrant blue flowers and luminous silvered surface, Silvered Venetian with Spotted Lapis Lilies reflects Chihuly’s remarkable ability to push the expressive possibilities of glass. The sculpture draws on centuries of Venetian glassmaking traditions while embodying the inventive spirit that has made Chihuly one of the most influential artists working in glass.

We join art lovers around the world in celebrating Chihuly’s extraordinary artistry and many contributions to the art of glass. We invite you to help and wish him a happy 85th birthday.
