HEY, ARTISTS! We want to see what America means to you. 🇺🇸🎨

In recognition of the 250th anniversary of the United States, MMoA is inviting artists to respond to one big question: What Is America?

From its aspirations and contradictions to its histories, cultures, people and present-day realities, this juried exhibition is open to your interpretation and your perspectives.

Artists of all ages and all media are welcome to enter, including photography. Each artist may submit up to two works. No AI-generated artwork will be accepted.

This year’s juror is Francis Estrada, Assistant Director of Learning and Engagement at the New Britain Museum of American Art.

Online entries are open NOW through October 15.

Artini is back at KTJ Studios on October 30! Join us for Timeless Fall Blooms, a hands-on workshop with Lisa Kelly where you’ll create your own seasonal centerpiece using Sola Wood flowers—designed to last well beyond fall.

And because this is Artini, we’re mixing cocktails with creativity. Internationally renowned mixology author and educator Chef Anthony Caporale will show you how to craft a signature Pumpkin Spice Martini with a fall floral garnish to sip while you create.

We provide the art supplies, instruction, handcrafted cocktail/mocktail + plenty of time to create, sip and socialize.

It’s wedding season. 💍

October is one of the most popular times of year to say “I do”—and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate than with a little bridal couture.

On view now at Mystic Museum of Art: a wedding gown by celebrated designer Christian Siriano featured in Luxe CT: Velvet Mills to Modern Runways.

From intricate details to dramatic silhouettes, the gown is a beautiful example of the craftsmanship, artistry, and imagination behind contemporary fashion.

And just like wedding season, Luxe CT won’t last forever.

The exhibition closes October 11. Come see it in person before it’s gone.

Thank you for celebrating 10 years with us, even during a nor’easter! 🎂

So many new and familiar faces, artists, families, friends, and supporters came out to mark this special milestone with us. Between artmaking, birthday cake, Luxe CT, and music along the Mystic River, it was a birthday we won’t soon forget.

And among the birthday wishes you left for MMoA was one that felt especially fitting:

“Happy Anniversary to a wonderful museum! May you continue to inspire curiosity, celebrate history, and bring people together for many more years to come.”

All exhibitions tell stories, but some of the best moments happen when we gather together and keep the conversations going.

Throughout *Luxe CT: Velvet Mills to Modern Runways*, our Speaker Series brought artists, designers, historians, museum professionals, makers, and curious minds to MMoA. We explored the many narratives connected to the exhibition, from fashion and textiles to historical influences and creative careers.

These conversations are part of what makes museums so exciting: a chance to hear different perspectives, ask questions, make connections, and discover something you might never have encountered otherwise.

A special thank you to CT Humanities for supporting this series and helping make these conversations possible and to every speaker and guest who joined us along the way.
