Mon Valley Railroad Historical Society, Inc.

Mon Valley Railroad Historical Society, Inc. Our Society, has the largest HO scale, three rail O gauge & N scale model railroads open to the public in Morgantown, North Central West Virginia!

Come see us on a Thursday evening at Mountaineer Mall! Members of the Mon Valley Railroad Historical Society are interested in creating a model railroad which will show how the real railroads helped to spur economic development in the State of West Virginia and the Monongahela River Valley. Many of our members are dual scale modelers. While our society is primarily HO scale, we welcome all scales from Z to O and even G.

Our first Railroad Herald was created by member Eric Hansmann. Our members settled on the name for our "fictional" railroad that traversed the area from Cumberland, MD through the Blackwater River canyon and ending at Ravenswood, WV on the Ohio river.

Here's a little history for all our fans. This is the first "logo" for the original Mon Valley Railroad Club of West Virginia. Our members approved the first constitution & bylaws on January 14th, 1988. This logo has those dates in the numberboards of each locomotive. Even our name wasn't completely locked down. We held a contest and I was the only one who submitted a design! Also, on the diesel you can see a round emblem. It has the letters, M for Mon, V, for Valley & RR. Enjoy!

Last evening, May 14th, we got our newest display case. Solid wood, lighted and ready for glass shelves and sliding doors. Randy A. measured, purchased materials and helped build this beautiful case. Money to pay for it came from a grant from the "Your Community Foundation" or YCF. Many thanks to Randy and the foundation. It will soon be filled with railroad artifacts!
