We are still buzzing from our last update, and the momentum in Burke County is incredible! We wanted to take a moment to share exactly where we are on this journey and celebrate a huge milestone.
Our Board of Directors recently met to sign with the award-winning team at Haizlip Studio. This is a major step forward, as it marks the transition from a "dream" to a "design." Having met our initial seed funding goal—thanks to the incredible generosity of our local community, foundations, and corporate partners—we now have the green light to begin the architectural design phase.
We’ve heard your excitement, and we want to be clear about the road map ahead. We are in the beginning stages of a very large, multi-year project:
- We’ll be working closely with our architects to imagine every square inch of the museum.
- Once we have a design and a clearer budget, we will launch our major fundraising campaign.
- Because this is such a large-scale project for Burke County, we don’t have an opening date yet. The speed of our progress will depend on our fundraising success, but we are committed to doing this right for our children.
We want you with us every step of the way! From the first sketches to the final coat of paint, we’ll be sharing the behind-the-scenes nitty-gritty of how a children’s museum comes to life.
This project has so much heart and momentum behind it. It will take time to do it right, but with this community behind us, we know the wait will be worth it.
