pick-up-sticks is a solo exhibition by American artist, jeweler, and educator Steven KP.

Opening October 24th, this exhibition of new works brings together forged silver and carved wood in response to the fall. Displacement, cared-for-scars, and the gestures of regathering that might follow.

Meet the artist and see the work on Saturday, October 24th from 6-8 PM. All our welcome and encouraged to experience this thoughtfully made pieces in person.

The "Constellation Diamond Drops" earrings by American jeweler Raïssa Bump.

"I believe there’s wild variety in our human experience and there should be many ways to externally convey some small bit of the beauty of our inner lives."

These Sterling Silver and glass bead earrings have a textural quality. Like many of Bump's other pieces, they are sizable; however, they are delicately conceived, achieving a sense of mass without the usual consequent weight.

"Can you make me a ring with all of these stones?"

German jewelry artist Georg Dobler has explored the opulence of gemstones in his work since the late 1990s. For a recent commission, the client requested a piece that included a small collection of heirloom gemstones. What Dobler created is FOOD ON THE TABLE, a playful one-of-a-kind ring.

The "Drops" earrings by Dutch jeweler Evert Nijland.

In 2023, Nijland made an edition of 10 pairs of these "Drops"
earrings. The hand-blown glass drops thrust through holes in the silver represented, for Nijland, ‘the inner force and energy that wants to come out.”

These are not simple silver earrings with glass pieces glued in place but rather hand-blown glass pushed through holes in the metal.

An anodized aluminum brooch by Israeli artist Vered Kaminski.

Kaminski is an artist who delights in detail and often follows a
mathematical approach to the process of jewelry-making. She employs the meditative aspects of repetition to create delicately intricate structures that feature meandering wire lines and/or the myriad forms found in nature, utilizing diverse materials – both precious and plain.

The "Compact Disc circa 2000" Brooch by Australian jeweler and scholar Robert Baines.

In 2012, Baines published "The Copybook of Copies: Fabulous Follies, Frauds and Fakes" through Australian Scholarly Publishing. The book relates to 83 works of jewelry, created for the exhibition "Robert Baines: Metal," which toured Australia as part of the "Living Treasures: Master of Australian Craft" series. The book was not a catalog but more an ‘authentication and stimulation’, as Baines put it.

Turn to chapter 3, and you'll find yourself reading "The Official History of the Compact Disc," which gives the "BC and the AD of the CD."

The gallery is happy to announce "pick-up-sticks," a solo exhibition by American artist and jeweler Steven KP. Opening October 24th, this exhibition marks KP's return to the gallery for the first time since his 2022 solo exhibition “Over, Onto Itself."

Gallery Loupe will show selected works from this solo exhibition during New York City Jewelry Week 2026.

Steven KP’s practice is focused on q***r experience, empathy, and material culture. Q***r bodies, KP states, are often forced to “pass,” considered the “other,” and are, therefore, undesirable. His powerful yet elegant jewelry may be interpreted as a metaphor for this lived experience.

KP received a BFA in Art Metals and Print Media from University of Wisconsin, Madison (2017) and MFA from Rhode Island School of Design in Metalsmithing and Jewelry (2020). He is currently a Visiting Lecturer in Jewelry and Metalsmithing at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Boston, MA. He has been included in several group exhibitions, including Talente 2021 (Munich, DE); in 2020 his work was seen in the Marzee International Graduate Show (Nijmegen, NL) and “SO MINT! bundles and blanks and binds and bends, Steven KP,” Current Obsession Magazine. The "Fortuny Ring" by Italian jeweler Annamaria Zanella (1966-2022).

In 2012, Annamaria Zanella presented this ring in the exhibition "Oltre l’ornamento" at the Fortuny Museum in Venice, Italy. The museum was once home to the Spanish polymath, artist, and fashion designer Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo and his wife and muse, Henriette Negrin. The palazzo was gifted to the city of Venice after their passing and officially opened as a public museum in 1975.

Fortuny invented the pleat, which he patented in 1909. As one admires Zanella's "Fortuny Ring," it is easy to see how this contemporary jewelry artist paid homage to Fortuny and the finely pleated gowns he created with his wife, French designer Henriette Negrin.
