Milwaukie History Museum The Milwaukie Museum is the largest (and only) museum dedicated to highlighting the incredible history of the city of Milwaukie, Oregon. Call 503-654-2292.

This beautiful small museum was formerly the George Wise family farmhouse, built on Lake Road in 1865. Admission free but donations are always appreciated. Later owners of the house, United Grocers, donated the structure to the Milwaukie Historical Society. Our September and October dates for walking tours filled up fast, so we added two new dates to our 2026 walking tour calendar: September 19th and October 17th! We invite you to join a local public historian on a 2 mile walk that highlights the past 250 years of life in Milwaukie.

Please send us a message or email to sign up for one of our historian-guided walking tours. We are currently taking RSVPs for tours scheduled for September 19th, October 10th, and October 17th, and adding names to the waitlist for the tour scheduled for September 12th.

We are now taking reservations for our next two walking tours! The next two dates are: September 12th and October 10th.

The Milwaukie Historical Society invites you to join one of our thoroughly researched walking tours led by a local public historian. Tours cover the past 250 years of life in Milwaukie, and tour ticket costs are free (thanks to a generous grant from the Clackamas County Cultural Alliance!).

Registration for the Dogwood Dash 5K on Oct. 10 is open! The city's newest event is a charitable run supporting LoveOne Milwaukie and the Corporal Diffie Veterans Fund. The route wraps around North Clackamas Park and features a combination of dirt and pavement. The registration fee is $30 before Aug. 31 (early-bird discount) and $40 after that date. If you're taking a dip at the Little Float of Milwaukie tomorrow, we encourage you to stop by our table to learn more about the history of Milwaukie Bay! We'll have a spin-the-wheel for prizes, history panels, and a sign up for our upcoming walking tours.

If floating isn't your thing, we still have you covered! The museum will be open tomorrow from 11:00 - 4:00, and our current exhibit, "Milwaukie: We Hold These Truths to be Self-Evident," partly highlights the history of Milwaukie bay. There's always lots of history on display at your Milwaukie History Museum!

In May, members of the Milwaukie Historical Society received the third edition of our quarterly newsletter titled "The Collection."

The Milwaukie Historical Society originally published a typewritten newsletter from the 1970s - the 1990s. The newsletter included important information about recent donations, upcoming events, and the success of financial campaigns. Technology has changed, but the current slate of Milwaukie Museum board members agree that sharing updated information about all of the work being done behind the scenes in critical. So, moving forward, we plan to post portions of our newsletter to this account, so more of Milwaukie's community can learn more about the work being done at the Milwaukie Museum.

We started yesterday by posting the first three pages of the newsletter that was shared with museum members back in May. We are posting the next three pages today.

Board members are currently working on the upcoming edition of the newsletter, which will be arriving in member's mailboxes later in August!
