True Grit Art Gallery Fine Art in Southeastern Massachusetts True Grit encompasses a drive; a passion to create.

It reflects a rich history in the area of Southeastern Massachusetts, where it calls home. This is where the Pilgrims strove to gain a foothold of religious freedom in a New World and where an ancient and noble people fought and eventually suffered against their encroachment. True Grit embodies the landscape of the area, peppered with old factories, triple-deckers, and their salty, resourceful, inhabitants. True Grit is echoed in the cheers of die-hard New England sports fans who had long agonized in their quest for glory and in most recent years, have seen their undying loyalty richly rewarded. In most simple terms, True Grit reflects the New England spirit and True Grit Art Gallery seeks to showcase that spirit in the form of artistic expression. It takes grit and determination to be an artist and we hope to gratify our patrons with a rich appreciation of that endeavor.

Sunlight falls across the wide floorboards of the Oliver House in Middleborough, Massachusetts. An open door. The shadow of a chair. Nothing else. The painting doesnโ€™t announce itself โ€” it simply holds a moment that feels both specific and strangely familiar, as if youโ€™ve stood in a room like this before and canโ€™t quite place when.

Ashleyโ€™s handling of the light is precise without being cold. Warm gold cuts across deep brown planks, the edges of the shadow soft where the sun meets worn wood. The antique frame doesnโ€™t just contain the image; it feels like part of the architecture, another layer of age and use. What remains is less a scene than a pause โ€” a small meditation on presence, absence, and the way certain rooms keep a trace of the people who moved through them.

Fragments is full of these kinds of moments. ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐˜€๐—ต๐—ผ๐˜„ ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ป๐˜€

If you submitted and werenโ€™t selected this year, come read what we didnโ€™t get to hear. If youโ€™ve never read here before, come anyway. All experience levels are welcome. Each reader gets up to 5 minutes (1โ€“3 poems).

Reserve a slot here (reserved readers go first; walk-ins welcome as time allows)๐Ÿ‘‰ https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1JcvwXQFWaA_8x-fxmShrEJq2EBzm5Q2CDOBYbmdBqGg/edit?usp=sharing

Come for the poems. Stay and walk through the exhibition.

The gallery was full. The poems were read aloud. The walls were covered in work made from those words. We heard so many kind things about both the poetry and the art, and we are still feeling it.โ™ฅ๏ธ

๐Ÿ™Thank you โ€” truly โ€” to every poet who trusted us with their work, to the five who stood up and read, and to every artist who took a poem and turned it into something new. You made this show.

๐Ÿ—“๏ธThis exhibition is up through September 26. Come walk through it while itโ€™s still on the walls. Stand in front of a poem and the artworks it became. That is the whole point.

And if you fell in love with a piece Saturday night (or you couldnโ€™t make it), the work is now in our online store through the website๐Ÿ‘‰ https://www.truegritartgallery.com/poetic-visions-2026.html
