This we’re highlighting Charles Deering’s long term commitment to supporting the arts. At his estate in Sitges, Spain, Deering assembled collections that included paintings, sculpture, metalwork, rugs, furniture, tapestries, books, and pottery. He combined several houses there into a single site known as “Mar y Cel."

Deering’s goal was for his collections and projects in Spain to support artists and provide opportunities for study and production, though he later determined that sustaining this work abroad was not feasible. The collections were ultimately transferred to institutions in the United States, including the Art Institute of Chicago and his estate in Florida. His will also created an endowment for the College of Liberal Arts at Northwestern University and made provisions for hospitals in Chicago and Miami.

Deering received recognition from the Spanish Government for his contributions, including the Order of Alfonso XII and the Order of Isabella the Catholic. After his death, the Mayor of Sitges convened an official meeting to honor his memory.

Deering Estate Presents Oscillation: Beekeeping Sculptural Workshop with Environmental Artist Camila Young

Join us for a hands-on outdoor workshop on Saturday, June 27th, 2026, from 11:00 AM –1:00 PM at the Deering Estate. Participants will create a hanging sculpture using locally harvested bamboo and biodegradable twine, an ecologically mindful piece that also functions as a bee hotel supporting solitary pollinators. Guided by themes of tides, flow, and our interconnected place in nature, this workshop explores where art and conservation meet.
This event will take place outside. Please dress for the weather and bring a hat, sunblock and water.
Sheers are recommended.

We’re still riding the wave of memories from this unforgettable celebration of coastal flavors, local arts, and community spirit. From fresh-caught seafood and live music, to family-friendly fun and stunning views of the historic Deering Estate, this milestone year was one for the books.

We are grateful for the staff, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, performers, and guests who made this year's festival so special!

The Deering Estate offers an exciting opportunity to photograph the sunrise over Biscayne Bay! Bring your camera, tripod, water, and bug spray. Bugs & mosquitos are very common throughout the year, please come prepared (mosquito spray/lotion, long sleeve shirts, & long pants are suggested). This program is for ages 15+. Ticket price includes general admission to the Estate during regular Estate hours (10AM to 4PM) the same day of your program. Please meet at the Main Gate.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your Event/Program start time. This program starts on-time as scheduled. Late arrivals will be considered a no-show and will not be permitted to enter or participate, and will not be refunded, transferred, or credited.

$25 per person.
Sunday, June 21st, 5:30 AM – 7:30 AM.
