The Louvre’s extraordinarily large and comprehensive collection of eighteenth-century decorative arts is without equal in any other museum, illustrating the exceptional talents of France’s eighteenth century artisans and artists in this field, whose work is admired around the world. In order to give this outstanding collection a presentation better allowing the public to appreciate its treasures, the galleries went through a spectacular transformation.
The exhibition design was conceived collaboratively by interior designer and French decorative arts connoisseur-Jacques Garcia and the curators in the Department of Decorative Arts.
Mister Garcia came to Pierre Frey to help him reproduce one of the fabric from those rooms. At our level, we wanted to put our expertise, our passion to serve this great institution by the identical reproduction of a painted and embroidered silk dating from the eighteenth century on the that was on the walls of the Château d’Abondant and to supply necessary fabrics for the restoration of this unique place.
