BORGES, REIMAGINED — ESTEBAN MACHADO DÍAZ

¿Quién es el hombre que contempla el espejo?

En La moneda de hierro, Esteban Machado Díaz parte de la poesía de Jorge Luis Borges para construir una reflexión profundamente personal sobre la identidad, la existencia y aquello que permanece invisible a la mirada.

Frente al espejo aparece un hombre cuyo rostro nunca llegamos a ver —ni siquiera en su reflejo—. Para Machado, su verdadera esencia no está en aquello que puede ser representado, sino en su interior.

El personaje es, a su vez, un autorretrato. Una interpretación de Borges construida desde la experiencia, la memoria y las raíces del propio artista.

Dentro del espejo emerge un paisaje idílico: Adán entre una vegetación paradisíaca, la manzana y el instante de tensión entre reflexión, resistencia y tentación. Fuera de él, el universo se expande. Mercurio, Venus, la Tierra, Marte y Saturno orbitan alrededor de la escena, atravesando incluso los límites entre una dimensión y otra.

El paisaje también habla de identidad. Los Andes y la vegetación caribeña transforman ese Edén imaginado en un territorio reconociblemente latinoamericano.

Más que ilustrar a Borges, Machado entra en su universo desde el suyo propio.

BORGES, REIMAGINED — ILEANA MULET

Time, memory, architecture, and imagination converge in Reloj de arena, a work created by Ileana Mulet as part of Roselle Gallery’s special tribute to Jorge Luis Borges.

In Mulet’s visual universe, architecture transcends the physical. Structures overlap, pathways unfold, and space seems to exist somewhere between the remembered and the imagined.

The title, Reloj de arena — Hourglass — introduces another essential dimension: time. Not simply as something that passes, but as something we inhabit, remember, lose, and encounter again.

In dialogue with Borges, the work invites us into a territory where time and space cease to be entirely linear—where architecture can become memory, labyrinth, and possibility.

Roselle Gallery is pleased to announce its participation in the Festival de Cine y Arte Argentino-Latino 2026, presenting a selection of contemporary Latin American art at Nova Southeastern University.

The exhibition brings together works by Esteban Machado Díaz, Ileana Mulet, Arturo Montoto, Alicia de la Campa Pak, and Carlos Guzmán—five distinctive voices whose practices reflect the richness, complexity, and diversity of Latin American visual culture.

As part of this presentation, Roselle Gallery will also commemorate Jorge Luis Borges, forty years after his passing, through a special tribute by Esteban Machado Díaz, Ileana Mulet, and Carlos Guzmán. Three artists, three individual visual languages, entering into dialogue with the literary universe of one of Latin America’s most influential writers.

This participation reflects an essential part of Roselle Gallery’s mission since its founding in 2022: to create new contexts for Latin American art, expand the visibility of its artists, and foster meaningful conversations between art, culture, and new audiences.

Para Roselle Gallery fue un honor participar en la Subasta de Arte por Colombia, realizada en Miami por Bienal Internacional de Arte | BIARCO – Bienal Internacional de Arte y Diana Sánchez , sumándonos a una comunidad de artistas, coleccionistas y amigos del arte movilizada por un mismo propósito: apoyar a las comunidades afectadas por el reciente terremoto en Colombia.

Nuestra participación, a través de la donación de una obra para esta causa, representa profundamente aquello en lo que creemos: que el arte no solo tiene la capacidad de conmovernos, sino también de reunirnos, movilizarnos y convertirse en una expresión concreta de solidaridad.

The curtain has fallen on the 31st edition of the International Ballet Festival of Miami , closing an unforgettable chapter for Roselle Gallery.

Presenting “Frida Mysticism”—a series of 3 works masterfully intervened by artist Esteban Machado Díaz (Esteban Machado Díaz | Arte) specifically for this occasion was a true honor. Blending the mysticism of Frida Kahlo with the passion and virtuosity of dance transformed our space into a memorable meeting point.

A heartfelt thank you to every collector, art lover, artist, and visitor who stopped by to view the exhibition, engage with us, and share their perspective on this collection. Your kind words and the cultural exchange experienced over these days reaffirm that art is a truly universal language.

These festival days not only celebrated art on stage and canvas, but also planted the seeds for exciting new projects now in the making. Following meaningful connections and conversations with key figures from the global art and cultural scene, we are opening the door to new collaborations that we will share with you very soon.
