The Frank presents Discord and Serenity, a photography exhibition featuring Barry University MFA students Joy Johnson and Bruna Marcon Weber, curated by RemiJin Camping, Assistant Professor of Photography at Barry University.

Presented in The Frank’s Third Space, the exhibition brings together two distinct photographic practices that explore the tensions between contrast and harmony, disruption and stillness, and the ways we perceive and navigate the world around us.

Join us for the opening reception on Thursday, September 17, from 6–9 PM, alongside the opening of Hyphenated Encounters in The Frank’s Main Gallery.

The Frank C. Ortis Art Gallery and Deering Estate are proud to present Hyphenated Encounters, the most comprehensive presentation of Cuban American artist Lilian Garcia-Roig’s work to date.

Presented across two interconnected curatorial projects, the exhibition brings together more than three decades of Garcia-Roig’s practice and recent work developed during her 2024 residency at Deering Estate.

At The Frank, Hyphenated Encounters: A Practice of Place, curated by Sophie Bonet, Chief Curator of The Frank, traces the artist’s evolving relationship to landscape, memory, identity, and place.
Deering Estate Residency: Lilian Garcia-Roig, Site, and the Labor of Belonging, curated by Liliam Dominguez, Head Curator of Deering Estate, centers on Garcia-Roig’s site-responsive residency practice and new work created in dialogue with the Deering Estate landscape.

The last chance to see our Summer exhibitions is today!

Created by artist duo Denise Treizman and JULIA ZURILLA - Multimedia Artist “monumentalizing the trace” where the gallery becomes a field—layered, unstable, and in motion—and begins to read as a changing environment where meaning gathers through what remains.

Also, explore Perseverance–an exhibition featuring 15 South Florida artists, curated by Veronica Gort; bringing together work that holds tension–between making and unmaking, presence and disappearance–foregrounding practices rooted in curiosity, courage, and connection.

What remains after a gesture has passed? A mark, a memory, a vibration—evidence of something once present.

Created through a collaboration between artists Julia Zurilla JULIA ZURILLA - Multimedia Artist and Denise Treizman Denise Treizman ‘Monumentalizing the Trace’ considers the trace not simply as what is left behind, but as something active: a record of movement, material, time, and presence. Through their exchange, individual gestures and artistic languages intersect, accumulate, and take on new meaning.

As the exhibition enters its final two weeks, we invite you to experience this collaborative dialogue in the gallery.

On view at The Frank through August 29, 2026.

Come visit our Third-Space at The Frank

Perseverance is an exhibition featuring South Florida artists, curated by Veronica Gort. Though aware of the ephemerality tied to human creation, these artists continue to make work, but why? What does it mean to keep going?

For artists, perseverance is embedded in process . It unfolds through repetition and rebuilding. This exhibition brings together work that holds tension–between presence and disappearance–foregrounding practices rooted in curiosity, courage, and connection.

Featuring Artists: Amy Gelb, Angelica Clyman, Carmen Smith, Emilio Pesantes, Erika Montoya, Jacob Edward Stiltner, Jacqueline Reis, Jade Zhang, Josh Aronson, Lisyanet Rodriguez, Mark Herrera, Nestor Perez, Priscila Schott, Rebeca Lopera, Sofia Metcalf

On view through August 29th, 2026, at The Frank C. Ortis Art Gallery.
