We are thrilled to return a tradition in our community that was started in 1962 by the American Legion Auxiliary. The first McConnell Strawberry Social was held in Ulan Schultz Trucking garage and it was held nearly every year by the auxiliary until the historical society took it over for them in the mid-2000's.
Our last one was held in 2019 and many have missed it.
What a better way than to revive it for the 25th Anniversary of the founding of the McConnell Area Historical Society.

We welcome our new restaurant and bar to McConnell!
If you have visited The McConnell Hideaway you will notice many historical photos of McConnell and the building placed throughout the business we were honored to give them.
This written history gives more detail on the building and it's place in the story of our community.

A lot of GREAT events going on this weekend supporting our local historical societies.

We will be open on Saturday and Sunday in McConnell.

We also encourage everyone to take a drive over to Kent to the Blackhawk War Monument on Saturday for Pearl City Historical Organizations first living history event.

Swing by Sullivans in Lena to grab lunch from Cedarville Area Historical Society or in Winslow at the brat stand in front of the museum!

We will be back at the grill in front of Sullivans in Lena on Saturday from 11-1 pm, so come on out and enjoy lunch

Just picked up lunch at Sullivans in Lena. Their stand today and tomorrow benefits the McConnell Area Historical Society. They will be grilling tomorrow from 11:00-1:00. This wonderful group was manning the booth today and they did a fantastic job. I chose the hamburger and yummy!!!!

They had burgers, cheeseburgers, brats, and hot dogs. They also had pork chops and rib eye sandwiches.

They would love to see you tomorrow.

We will be working the grill and serving up some delicious sandwiches this Friday and Saturday in front of Sullivans in Lena from 11 am until 1 pm

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifice secured the freedoms we enjoy today and shaped the history of our communities and our country.

As a historical society, we are reminded that preserving history also means preserving the stories of courage, duty, and sacrifice made by generations of Americans. May we never forget those who served and gave all.

We invite our community to reflect, remember, and honor our fallen heroes this Memorial Day.
