Backstage at the Lena Opera House, these names are written on the wall. They were the cast of the play “Esmeralda” that was performed by the senior class in 1923!

There's something particularly special about the actors leaving their names backstage. It's a glimpse into the lives of ordinary people who helped make the Opera House an important part of Lena's social and cultural life.

The story of Esmeralda was written by Frances Hodgson Burnett, who later became famous for writing the book the Secret Garden.
