☀️Piedmont Arts has gone solar!☀️

The 146-panel array will help offset the museum’s carbon footprint by producing around 40% of its power. Along with the impact of HVAC upgrades and LED lighting installed in 2023, the museum will see significantly reduced electrical expenses — its largest monthly operating cost — while helping sustain the arts and the planet for future generations.

This project was a key component of the Growth and Restoration Campaign, which focused on strengthening the museum’s long-term fiscal sustainability, allowing more of its resources to support exhibitions, arts education, and community programs.

A great night at Piedmont Arts with John “Papa” Gros! 🎶🎹

Sponsored by Move to Martinsville and Music in the Box, this show was part of their French Quarter Musical Mini Series, an intimate, three-show celebration of New Orleans-inspired music. Each performance takes place at a different partner venue, offering a unique setting while highlighting the rich arts scene of Martinsville and Henry County.

Artwork entry for Expressions, our annual open-entry exhibition, is Saturday, June 13 from 10 am - 1 pm at Piedmont Arts.

Entry Guidelines
• Open to all artists living withing a 100-mile radius of Martinsville.
• A maximum of two pieces may be entered per artist.
• All work must be original and created by the artist without the use of
generative artificial intelligence. No reproductions or work created from a kit.
• Work must be completed within the last two years.
• No work submitted to a previous “Expressions” will be accepted.
• Work deemed inappropriate or that which requires extraordinary installation
may be excluded.
• 2D work: Must be wired for hanging, dry, secure in the frame and no larger
than 40” x 40” including frame.
• 3D work: Must be dry, freestanding or including a display apparatus, and no
larger than 55” in width including display apparatus. Work over 6’ in height
must be approved by the Director of Exhibitions prior to entry.

You are invited to attend an evening honoring Clyde Ho**er Award recipients DelShana LeGrant and 3rd Bay Café. 🏆

Arts in Education Award recipient Kourtney Merricks and the recipients of the Nicodemus Hufford and Harold Knowlton Work Memorial Art Scholarships will also be recognized.

The 24th Annual Clyde Ho**er Awards are Tuesday, June 2, at 5:30 p.m. at Piedmont Arts.
