“COLLECTive Concerns” is now on view at Piedmont Arts.

Featuring work by 12 artists, this collection explores collage and assemblage as a coping mechanism, a siren call, or a cautionary warning about collective concerns that impact our culture.

Each artist presents a unique collection of works, assembled from discarded yet highly curated materials.

“COLLECTive Concerns” features work by:
Judy Bowman, Elaine Crivelli, Kristy Deetz, Virginia Derryberry, Reni Gower, Craig Hill, Errin Ironside, Sue Johnson, Axelle Kieffer, Edwin Shelton, Alexandra N Sherman, and Michele Stutts.

We’re gearing up for a new year of Teen Arts Council!

Thursday, Sep. 17 at 6:30pm we’ll host a Kickoff Event for all interested 9th-12th graders. Enjoy pizza, ice cream, and share what YOU want to experience in TAC this year!

TAC is meant for any teen who ❤️ the arts! Visual arts, music, theatre, we love it all here at Piedmont Arts! And TAC is the place for teens to get together to experience the arts outside the classroom, get involved in the community, and share their passion with others.

“Looted Art: An Opening Journey to Resolution,” a talk discussing art looted during World War II, will take place at Piedmont Arts Thursday, Sept. 24 at 7pm. This event is free and open to the public.

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Senior Manager of Provenance Research Karen Daly provides a historical overview of art looting and the museum community's response. She also reflects on how recovery and restitution efforts have evolved to the present day, including a discussion of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts’ experiences resolving multiple art restitution claims.

If you didn't already know, we're kinda chic here at Piedmont Arts. 💁‍♀️

🎟️Admission to our galleries is always FREE!
🏫We bring various performances, workshops, and art programming directly to the schools at no cost to them.
🖼️We are an affiliate of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, meaning we can display world-class exhibits.
🎤We host various lectures and performances that are often free or low-cost.
⭐Our Family Day events and Tree Lighting in the Art Garden are some of our larger community events that are fun and FREE for the whole family to enjoy!
🎶Our annual Roanoke Symphony Orchestra Holiday Pops concert is a favorite holiday tradition for the community.
🎨Kids need the arts! We encourage creative play in our Discovery Room, Art Camps, and school tours of our museum.

Rosalynn Arnold's painting "Iris" is the winner of the People's Choice Award in "Expressions 2026: America 250." 🏆

The award was determined by exhibition visitors, who selected it from the 146 works by 84 artists on display. "Iris" also took home the first place award in the watercolor category. Congratulations!
