We received these Ideal Electric Company Newsletters, "IDEAL FOLKS"; that were published from May 1943 to December 1944, during WWII. Due to the difficulty, we only scanned Two Issues; because they're bigger than 8 1/2 x 11 and they're bound in a hard-covered book...

Thanks to The Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Building for this June/July 1954 OMAR CARAVAN Newsletter, that features Louis Bromfield, Malabar Farm Foundation and Mansfield. This is only part of the Newsletter and there is no Credit to the Author, but it is very well written on Our History.
And, also gives some background on OMAR BAKERY INC. They setup a Branch at 648 Grant Street in 1949, in a WWII Quonset Hut. Then moved to 1092 W 4th Street in 1952 and OMAR went Bankrupt in 1965 and forced to Close All Locations.
After OMAR left, Weidner's opened United Motors and now it's NAPA...

Some of you may remember back in the '70s when the Mansfield Art Center published a Day Planner each year... here's a Calendar they published in 1978, and several of my Friends supplied the Photos... May They RIP!
But what really shocked me, is when I noticed that of their Sponsors, 15 Manufacturers and 52 Retailers, were no longer in Business...

Of all the money, NCOIM has spent, buying back Our Local History, stolen by a former curator... this has to be the best $22 Investment!

We got 2 Scrapbooks when we bought Lot #327, in Auction #17:
#1 a Family Album of Prosecutor/Attorney George H Blecker and his in-laws, A.E. & A.F. Remy and,
#2 this Day of Celebration, when The Tappan Stove Company was awarded the coveted "Army-Navy E Award"; Courtesy of Ms Florence M Schaus. Who was 23 at the time when she took these photos and kept the Invitation, Program and the MNJ's Four-Page Article on the Day's Events...

Maybe there are Family Members of Ms Schaus still living here or of the other Tappan Employees, featured in her Scrapbook...

NCOIM will Donate this Amazing Pictorial History of that Day (when All Tappan Employees, were Recognized for their Service to Our Military); back to The Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Building, where it was most likely Donated...

Tappan (like all Manufacturers across the Country), stopped all Consumer Products to focus on, over 40 Military Products for the WWII effort. Besides Tappan, only 8 other Local Companies received the "Army-Navy E Award": Westinghouse, Dominion, Hughes-Keenan, Stran-Steel, Mansfield Tire & Rubber, Ohio Brass, Barnes; and the only Manufacturer still in business today, Gorman-Rupp Pumps!

Two months ago, I got an Email from my old friend Norbert Peiker's Daughter... with some very Exciting News!

Norb (the former President of Marr, Knapp & Crawfis Architects) got in touch with me when we opened the NCOIM in 2021, and he wanted me to know about his Ex-Father-in-law, Paul J Kircher. Paul was born in Germany in 1909, came to Mansfield with Westinghouse in 1963, as a Product Design Engineer; with over 50 Patents; and Paul passed away in 1974...

Paul's First Patent was Granted in 1934 for a Scale, while working for The Jacob Brothers Co in Brooklyn, NY. Then Paul moved to LFC - Landers, Frary & Clark in New Britain, CT; who manufactured Small Household Appliances, and Paul was Granted his first Patent there in 1942. Then in 1963, Paul moved to Mansfield, to work as a Design Engineer, in the Small Appliance Division of the Westinghouse Plant. Paul's first Patent for Westinghouse was for an Electric Can Opener and his last Patent in 1971 was for an Electric Saucepan.

Then Norb introduced me to his Children by Email... The Stahl Family sent me three of their Grandfathers Inventions in 2022: a Blender, Electric Toothbrush and Improved Toaster. And then, out of the blue, the Tetzloff Family Emailed... their Mom had passed away in 2021 and had all of her Fathers Patents...
Yes, Six Originals, 44 Copies and the attached photos to go with them; were shipped to NCOIM, it was the first time I'd seen Original Patents! Which will take a prime location, in our Newest Exhibit, "The Hire Family Inventors Corner". In Richland County, we have had over 3,200 Patents Granted...

The Pieker Family was living in Germany and in 1969 was Sponsored by Paul, and moved to Mansfield. Unfortunately, in OCT 2024 Norb passed away after a 28-year battle with matastasized prostate cancer: https://www.richlandsource.com/2024/11/07/column-norbert-peiker-architect-and-marathon-runner-finishes-his-lifes-race/
